Love your planetarium!

Jun 20, 2014,08:22 AM

I remember the shot of one of the planets through one of the hands as well, that was great.

Definitely like this version the most, the newly introduced C&A version doesn't quite do it for me...

CvdK is really a great brand, the detailing on the watches is top notch. I own an Ariadne (new style, which is about their only watch which I like better new vs old), and I would never consider buying another watch based on a 7751 for this price. Dial and movement finish outweigh the fact that it isn't an in house, but a rather common movement for me.

the smallest mechanical heliocentric planetarium in the world

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : June 16th, 2014-08:37
Made by AHCI member Christiaan Van Der Klaauw himself. Actually the last steel one produced before they made the switch to there new house style (dials) etc. The Planetarium shows (real time) the solar orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter and Sa...

A marvel ....

to think the cogs and gears can move the "planets" accurate to their orbital period. Especially intriguing when we come to realize that the planets are in concentric circles evenly spaced out while in the real case, they aren't. Did they explain in the ma...

Amazing piece...

...does it come with perpetual calendar ? No wonder VCA asked the master to provide a similar piece to them. Cheers, Gordon

Thanks for showing us this amazing piece...

Saturn takes 29,46 years to orbit the sun

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : June 16th, 2014-16:11
I couldn't recall exactly how long Mercury - 87,97 days Venus - 224,70 days Earth - 365,24 days Mars - 686,98 days Jupiter - 11,86 years Saturn - 29,46 years

Not even close ....

My macros are not even close to your stunning shot, but at least they follow the theme of "round things orbeting"... ;) Case back Buckle Best Blomman ...

Really nice shot. I would not mind owning one althought it might...

nice, very nice - we donĀ“t see them very often here. Thanks! Oliver

Most of them are in the Netherlands

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : June 17th, 2014-12:22
But the AD where I bought the Planetarium told me that they only sold 1 or 2 per year. So I guess they are really scares. Especially if you know there are different dials and movements as well.

Well, we have several Dutch guys here ...

still they are rare to see here :-) By the way do you happen to know if the people behind C.v.d.K changed? Cheers, Oliver

yes

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : June 20th, 2014-07:28
The company got bought by 3 investors (so to speak) and Mr vd Klaauw only has an advisory role now (used to be a one man shop so to speak). I'm sure there is some info somewhere about that on their site or on Mr Google

Great shot! (nt)

Great photo of a watch that has long intrigued me, Arie. Your phot was so good that no one wanted to continue the 'Macro Monday' theme. LOL. Which is fine as your image is superb. Thanks again. Andrew

tnx!
