Patek Philippe: Ignorance is bliss, I guess...

My sense is that most people who sell through the auction houses don't know any other way, or don't want to bother with the hassle of selling into the grey market. It's also possible that sellers are often families/descendants of the original owner - with no major attachment to the piece and no clue

Collectors Market: FS: IWC Portuguese Automatic

IWC Portuguese Automatic 7-Day in White Gold. Ref IW500106. Comes with Original Box and all manuals, etc., but NO PAPERS. I would rate the watch itself as Mint (I have worn it sparingly and carefully), but there is a small discoloration on one side of the deployant buckle (hard to describe, but visi

Patek Philippe: Next Year is Patek's 175th Anniversary....

So I have a feeling Patek is keeping a few tricks up its sleeve for next year. As for the current lot - I think the 5200g in blue is a winner, as are the 5170g and the black 5960p. Patek Philippe: 5940 is the belle of the ball...

I am a big fan of the 5940. I love those cushion shaped pieces. The 5204 is also beautiful, but not sure how I feel about it being 40mm (or $317K, lol). One of the charms of the 5004, for me anyways, was that they crammed a grand comp into a 36mm case. And do I have it right that the 5213 is a 5216

Patek Philippe: Blue is the way to go...

...but not just because it is the classic Patek color for this reference (IMO). I tried on the black dial 5980 (very much wanting to like it), but it did absolutely nothing for me. As opposed to the blue (which, to me, has more life to it), the black dial just seemed a little cold and lifeless.
