5296 R 001 - Three part question

Jan 25, 2008,10:03 AM

Hello fellow PP enthusiasts.

I am the brand new proud poppa of a 5296R 001. I have a three questions.

1. I was told that the watch with the sector dial (001) was discontinued. A NY AD who does huge PP volume told me  this when I went to order before the price increase. I got lucky and found it and took delviery from a trusted PP AD in Fla. If anyone has any info on this it would be awesome. Discontinued or not, I am VERY happy. But if it's no longer on the block, I can tell my wife the investment has already produced a good yield, lol.

2. As a new owner, I have a strange question. When I wear the watch on my wrist, I can head the noice id the winding wheel spin around. Its a friendly reminder that I have some serrious machinery on my wrist. But it's the only mechanical watch of several I have that make any such noise. Is this normal?

3. Lastly, I bought the watch over the phone from a AD that I trust. The watch came with a VERY small strach on the side near where the band meet sthe watch. Again, it's very small. When  called the dealer, they appologized and indicated that it could be buffed out for free and that from time to time they would be willing to take care of any scratched free of charge. Does anyone know just how easliy surface scratches can be removed.

Thank you in advance for feedback and information on this long three part question.

To answer your questions: 1. A very well known Patek collector has also stated that there is a "rumor" that the sector dial is discontinued. I'll emphasize this is only a rumor, and no official word has been announced. 2. The sound you hear is perfectly n...
