Price Increase around the Horizon?

 By: psychotic : January 19th, 2014-01:11
From what I've heard, PP did not raise its price at all last year but did so 3x the previous year. As someone who is determined to wait out the purchasing of another (PP) watch for his birthday (in March), I'm just worried for a nasty surprise for all my ...

in 2013 prices in Asia went down 10%

for watches made in 2013 apparently the adjustment was based on foreign exchange movements Hence, personally I do not think that for Asia it would increase for 2014 because the revision was only made a year ago

B/c China have had been hunting down the...

corrupted officials whom had been spending their money on expensive watches, so for the past year many of these officials have been hiding under their bed and trying to stay under the radar.

Price info only via PM. Thanks!

Looks like I still have much to learn... ...though my question was not about the price of any specific watch but a general question on the price fluctuation of a brand that I thought being open to the general populace would net more responses... Anyways, ...

I doubt it

Based on my humble opinion and conversations with my AD, price increase will further hurt sales. It's no longer sustainable. Just look at the recent PP models that were retired late last year as an example, and the price decrease in Asia. The HK dollar is...

jonrs...yes, Hong Kong dollar is pegged to USD...but

the RMB (currency for China) has appreciated around 10% in the past few years There have a lot of collectors from China buying PP pieces, both inside and outside of China

I agree with you, the price increases just wasn't sustainable, the fact is many Patek watches that used to be difficult to find or have to pay a premium for, are now sitting at ADs. Patek had a great run with auctions and a booming Chinese market, but now...

Thx for everyone's feedback

...though I was hoping more for responses such as: "Patek is going to raise its price all across their range by 200% next week!!" Then that would give me an excuse to get my piece of eye candy now. =P

Just buy what you love and can afford!

:) don't worry about price trends, popularity trends, forex trends, etc else there will be many things to consider. Can I congratulate you in advance for your purchase for your March celebrations? ;) Keep us updated! cheers robin

Forex trends...haha, that's funny.

...though I do follow the stock market on a daily basis, it's not a major factor in deciding on a purchase.

and if I caved in to my watch buying whims...

I would be a very, very broke man.

Increase will be 8%

no way

The Chinese market has cooled off considerably and the US market cannot support the current price points. AP actually reduced prices on many models over the past year. PP in fact, had a price increase last year on selected models sometime in the spring.

Hear they will cut

Production to support any and all price increases.

That's a bummer!

Is that worldwide? or selected markets?

Oh but I do

 By: psychotic : January 26th, 2014-14:46
The question is "when" not "if." I would like to acquire a brand new 5167 for my birthday. Make the purchase more meaningful, special, ya know? Unfortunately, my b-day isn't till March. A price increase in this case would be a kick up the backside for my ...

No Need To Wait

Why not buy it today at today's price, put it away and then "present it to yourself" on your birthday? patekova

I have thought of that

but what sane man can resist such temptations under one's nose for any period of time?
