Tyo as well.  Thing is, like the OP, if you're absolutely sure and can just walk away with 1-watch and be content, then that's fantastic.  I suppose, it's like ending a bad-relationship, where you rip the bandage and never look back.

Personally, I prefer the diversity; my small stable has an AP RO 15300, a Patek 5127R and 5146J, and an Omega Speedy Pro Sapphire Sandwich; I could easily part with the AP and both PPs and get a 'grail' piece, but at the same time I'd loose out on having various pieces to choose from. Still debating on this one though...

Congrats to the OP, enjoy in good health!

I know this sounds crazy, but

I just traded a couple of watches for the cash needed for funding an Aquanaut 5167 1a. Things all started two weeks ago when the salesman of my acquaintance invited me to have a look at some of the newly stocked items. I dropped by the AD this morning to ...

As long as you are truly buying what your heart desires..

 By: KC74 : July 7th, 2015-07:32
If it was me, I would not trade-off this way..I like the 3 pieces you sacrificed :(

I just felt that as my age advances, my tastes changes as well.

 By: Luis6 : July 7th, 2015-15:09
I still like the sacrificed pieces, but thought that things do have to move on. After all, I still have others watches to play with in the watch box, including: Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Dat...

there is a first for everything...

Its my first time seeing a 5167 with bracelet as most sold in my country are in rubber, and, it looks fabulous! Congrats on your new beau!

Congrats!

Two great watches. Enjoy it!

Thanks. We certianly will enjoy them.

 By: Luis6 : July 7th, 2015-15:11
And the good thing is, I still have others watches to play with in the watch box, including: Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Datejust given by my Dad, Cartier Santos 100 and GP4946.

Yeah,it does sound crazy...

 By: rnaden : July 7th, 2015-08:59
but at the end of the day, if that void is filled and the pleasure is there, I suppose the sacrifice of the three also very nice pieces is worth it. Congratulations! This is a very nice watch.

The pleasure difinitely void any negative sentiment, if any.

After all, I still have others watches to play with in the watch box, including: Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Datejust given by my Dad, Cartier Santos 100 and GP4946.

Beautiful watch!

Sometimes crazy is the only way to get what you really want. Congrats!

Exactly. Life can be more interesting if we do crazy things occasionally.

BTW, I still have others watches to play with in the watch box, including: Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Datejust given by my Dad, Cartier Santos 100 and GP4946.

congratulations

for both the watch and the prompt decision. How many time I thought to sell everything to fund a dream watch, something from Geneva, Le Sentier or Glashütte. But the thing is I like having the choice among those I own and I didn't decide yet what is my dr...

Thank you. Actually I'm not a one watch person. I also like diversity.

So that's why I still keep others watches to play with, including: Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Datejust given by my Dad, Cartier Santos 100 and GP4946.

I think you might do it when you find that dream piece.

a couple of years ago I have tried this Patek Philippe in London, it's more like a love at first try than at first sight. I seriously considered at this time selling everything single watch I owned but.... I resisted ...

I have the same set of couples watches as well. Eventually, got another 5167R for my wife! I love the 5167/1A. It's very comfortable and perfect for everyday. Congrats!

It is quite difficult to find a watch that feels nearly 100% of our criteria/needs etc... You'll be able to do everything with this Aquanaut and, yes, Patek's bracelets are top notch among all brands. Thanks a lot for sharing this "piece of life" Luis and...

You seems to be nuts

but sometimes it's really nice to see such feelings Congrats

Thank you mark. I can't confidently say that I will take this watch to every occasion.

That's why I still keep my Blue dial AP Royal Oak Dual time, two tone Rolex GMT Master II, white SS Daytona, two tone Datejust given by my Dad, Cartier Santos 100 and GP4946.

You did the right thing!

By selling your three watches for this beauty. Most importantly, is the passion you have for your new piece whatever the brand may be. It is because of passion that we are able to make sacrifices that others might not appreciate. I have just done somethin...

Very nice pair of watches, I must say

 By: cazalea : July 7th, 2015-12:50
Not that crazy - grabbing what you want when it's offered, and doing a bit better than expected helps. It reduces the angst of YES, NO, MAYBE which we torment ourselves with. And we PuristS are here to help alleviate (any potential) buyer's remorse. Cazal...

" It was gutsy and a harder choice than just letting the opportunity pass." Though not related to watches, this kind of thing had happened to me before, and not just once. I tend to be Indeterminate and irresolute at times, and that' the part of me that I...

Great choice and I didnt realize the bracelet is so nice! Good for the summer now. A very versatile watch. As we had discussed, quality over quantity makes more sense in the long run so I support your decision! Plus now, you have 1 more pair of couple wat...

Thank you so much bro. Your support and advice is highly appreciated as always.

 By: Luis6 : July 7th, 2015-23:58
To be honest, I made this decision without consulting my wife in advance. Thankfully, she is 100% with me (and you) on this "Less is more, quality over quantity" approach.

Good that your wife is happy bro

 By: jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) : July 8th, 2015-20:33
Now does that mean you have freed up some watches in quantity so you could add more later ? :p Shhhh don\'t tell your wife I suggested this Cheers Robin

A beauty ! Congrats bro !

Looks perfect on your wrist. Good decision (imho). Regretted selling mine a few years ago. Wear it in good health !

Thank you. We are learninig all the time. Regret is not necessarily a bad thing.

Excellent choice

 By: flamenco : July 7th, 2015-23:10
Am myself very much in favour of the 5167/1A over the 5711 due simply to the bracelet. Much better IMO. And what a swell pairing with the 24 ! Huge congrats & Thanks for sharing a wonderful story !

Congratulations!

It looks perfect on your wrist! Constantin

congrats

 By: atenaille : July 8th, 2015-13:55
Cool congrats but you need the rubber strap, first it goes great with the dial, and if you think it's comfortable on bracelet wait until you wear it on rubber…

Nice to listen to your heart !

 By: gautamak : July 8th, 2015-20:25
Congratulations on making perfect choice , nothing sounds crazy when you like your act. Needless to say that you can enjoy it on all occasions. Wear wonderful piece in good health. Cheers Gautam !

Nice piece, Luis6.

We are ALL crazy with this disease. :-) Did you have an option of the rubber band instead of the bracelet or was it bracelet only? Aloha, Bob

The AD did not have the rubber version in stock. But I'm normally a bracelet guy anyway.

 By: Luis6 : July 9th, 2015-12:06
BTW, in the eyes of my friends who are not into watches, we WIS are no doubt crazy guys!

rubber strap was the original design

 By: watch-er : July 9th, 2015-15:08
for this reference and having had one when first released years ago, it was one of the most comfortable watches out there as the rubber strap can be sized so precisely. I regret selling it. I would love to see the bracelet on this one for comfort Glad you...
