PP winding box

PP winder comes with 5140(bought end Dec 07) stopped, brought it to my AD and I was told PPHK isn't able to fix it and have to send to Switzerland for repair( replacement probably) at USD 1,800.

Justify to pay the amount for repair or I should just use other winders available ?

just for servicing. I think you're better off using something else.

I'd just use another winder

also agree..... A tad too much.... I would only do it, if you insisted having a PP winder, otherwise there are other brands, especially one other that is considered the best... Cheers

I had one break down last year (the new-style dark walnut presentation box) and my AD was able to fix it for no charge. There is really not much technical sophistication to these things, if I were even a half-competent handyman I could have done it myself...

pretty steep....

wow i that is quite a quote!! i would wait to get an "official" estimate from PP but $1800 is a lot for a winder repair. I would purchase a new Orbita or Scatola Del Tempo winder for a fraction of the cost. I have attached a link from the Scatola del Temp...

Patek winding box are made by Scatola del Tempo.... so better by one directly from Scatola del tempo at 1/5 of price!

It's like that in HK...

Everything comes with a price in HK. Want extra soup with your wanton noodles or an extra dumpling...be prepared to pay. $1.8k is a hell lot of money...you should get another cheaper winder which is much more reliable...How long did you say that it was wo...

Check the batteries and/or battery connection ...

It's usually something trivial we all overlook.

thank you guys for the feedback, very costly for 28.5 months( warranty expired) in use. I'll follow some of the advises, bring it to some local handyman to try the repair or use it as a storage box. cheers
