Some great points

Ok, so you're a traditionalist, I like that.

It's a worthy letter to your son, and is actually a great idea. Better for your son's watch to have a story, for your story to be remembered by your son with a watch, and for you to watch your son and remember your letter.

A letter to my son...

Time and its value Dear Son, Im giving a watch to you on this day, a day that is no more special than any other day, because time is one of our most precious gifts. I hope to exhort you through this gift, how time is to be relished. I want to exhort you ...

May I ask...

...what the intention is behind your post? I find the repeated comparisons between watches and women somewhat creepy.

I like the letter

cos it explains very well to a "newbie" in simple terms about mechanical watches and why we love them....i resonate well with some of the points you made there. A bit long though but necessary. did you get him a Nautilus?

Some excellent points indeed

Actually, dammit, I loved it...

I re-read it a second time. Yes, I loved the letter. I'll do the same with my three young boys one day.

Great letter from a father to his son!

I find the watch content to be secondary to the "live your life" statement.

Nicely worded..........

I just wish that my Father may have done something similar! Oh well...................

So what was the watch? I'm guessing a Nautilus too.

Nice letter from father to son. So from the numerous watch / wife analogies I'm guessing that you've had a very strong marriage and wish the same for your son. Or, you've had dreadful luck with a string of different women and you are sufficiently worried ...
