 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-08:57
The new 2014 collection, the new Patek Philippe booth and the coming 175 th Anniversary – lots of news, impressions and pictures to share. Patek Philippe presented nothing less than 23 new models in Basel, but not all of those are “real” novelties. Some w...

In the CALATRAVA collection we have two new pieces – one for men and one for ladies. Ref. 5153 G There have been two versions before, one in YG and one in WG (black dial). The new one Ref. 5153G-010 comes in WG and with a silvery opaline dial. Case diamet...

It is a nice watch but I much prefer the black dial version. Fx

Black dials, I have a weakness for them. But when it comes to readabililty

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-23:23
... quite a few people blame them, if we talk about classical/elegant watches. Still it is nice to have options, isn´t it? Thanks, FX! Oliver

NAUTILUS - Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5990/1A

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-09:25
The new Nautilus Travel Time Chronograph Ref. 5990/1A combines two highly popular complications and features additional functions for enhanced everyday convenience. What looks like a simple addition of a new “smaller” complication, was in fact quite chall...

Thanks Oliver for the presentation of this new Nautilus

 By: foversta : April 13th, 2014-14:20
I really have to see it in the metal. Your shots clearly display the complexity of the case. I'm less convinced by the dial but maybe I will change my mind when I will see it. Fx

"less convinced by the dial"

FX, can you elaborate what disturbs you? Thanks! Oliver

COMPLICATIONS - Ref. 5960/1A, Ref. 4968G and Ref. 7121/1J

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-09:43
Ref. 5960/1A When the Ref. 5960 was launched in 2006, the Patek Philippe Annual Calendar Chronograph in platinum was the manufacture's first self-winding chronograph. It manifested a new and unique style with its prominent monocounter and three large cale...

Great reports Oliver...many thanks for putting them together !!

 By: foversta : April 13th, 2014-14:28
Honestly, I don't understand the watch. Let me explain: it is obviously a nice watch and I appreciate its dial. But Patek presents its as a kind of "more casual" version of the 5960 explaining to some customers that it could be an all-around watch. But wi...

When we talk about ...

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-23:35
watches and especially those we like and discuss here: "What is the real purpose of this watch?" Does it really matter? Just a thought?! Anyway, for me casual and sporty is or at least can be quite different - product specifications can be quite different...

Thank you

For a fantastic report and stunning photos. There are some nice new pieces, but I am quite sad to see the 5960P out of production. I understand this is the natural evolution with Patek, but still disappointed. Kind regards,

Evolution - doesn´t it mean ...

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-23:40
there will/could be something new some time soon?! Me looking forward to it, because I am always curious :-) Thanks for your kind reply! Oliver

I like this Oliver you have given me hope :). Kind regards,

Thank you for the great report...and comments on stainless steel.

 By: jimjenkins : April 13th, 2014-19:47
The way you describe how difficult it is to polish ss bracelets (and cases too), one realy wonders about the use of white gold. Is it possible that the manufacturers are deliberately using easy to process wg as opposed to ss to cut down manufacting and se...

Hi Jim, thanks for your kind reply and regarding ...

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-23:53
"the use of white gold ... win-win-win .." it is interesting to get your point of view. No matter what the brands are thinking or want at the end it needs customers to put money on it. Some ask for gold (or any other precious metals) because it makes the ...

I do hope that the ss version is much more affordable than the ex Pt.

 By: amanico : April 13th, 2014-21:53
I have very mixed feelings with the new 5960... First I hope that the bracelet doesn't allow Patek to sell it at the price of the Pt. Then, I really hope you can buy it without this bracelet, which doesn't match with the spirit of the Watch. I would rathe...

Dear Nicolas, the short reply is ...

 By: small-luxury-world : April 13th, 2014-23:58
Yes, it is. No, it is not possible. And (at least to me) it is sure that you are not the target group of this specific watch :-) Thanks my friend! Oliver

I have coveted the first 5960p with grey dial ever since

 By: Hulk : April 23rd, 2014-03:02
It came out. But your photos confirm my first initial thoughts, I don't like it. The dial just doesn't work for me, with the different colours and the bracelet makes it look worse. Having read Nicholas comments I could be swayed. I think he is right, a le...

Hi Steve, thanks for your kind words.

You are right, but live pictures have given already a first impression that hasn't changed

 By: cisco : April 14th, 2014-02:18
I find the new versions of the 5950 very nice, the 5940G appealing and the 5204P stunning. But as said previously, there are some novelties that I do not see as appealing and looking like mistakes to me. As usual with Patek time will tell :)

agree

"a report on enamel dials, dome clocks, and other artisan pieces"

 By: small-luxury-world : April 14th, 2014-14:32
Dear Gordon, it is not planned yet. If I find the time I will share at least some live pictures of the dome clocks, because they are missing so far. Oliver

Ref. 5951P-012 and -013 (012 on the left - white lacquered; 013 on the right - black lacquered) Those two are the successors of the Ref. 5951P-001, which is discontinued now. There was no chance to see them in the metal, this time. From what I can say so ...

Final conclusion

 By: small-luxury-world : April 14th, 2014-14:29
Final conclusion : When it comes to Patek Philippe we all are used to see classical evolutions instead of revolutions crying for attention, at least most of the time. I am aware that some details shown might be somehow controversial for some, but at the e...

I'd like to run to my AD to see the 5960 on wrist and if I'm lucky and win the lottery, 5204 will be it. Finally, the 5078R is so gorgeous and I'm happy to make it my exit piece. Joseph

Joseph, thanks for your kind reply.

Me don´t even play any kind of lottery. Maybe I should change this :-) Oliver
