I am not only speaking about the exclusive caliber. Patek Philippe says: “This grand ballet of sight and sound is produced in a limited edition of 175 watches.” The latter is probably the only thing to blame them, but more on this latter. The first time I...

Hi Oliver, thanks for the report and you have made me want to...

Great pictures and a real treat to read. I know I'll be coming back to this post a few more times. My favorite of all the anniversary pieces. I couldn't imagine seeing a name brand other than Patek Philippe on that dial. Thanks Oliver! Sincerely H.

H, thanks for your kind reply and I agree with you ...

Another proof that Patek is not standing still

Albeit Patek has a very classic collection (except Nautilus and Aquanaut), the brand's watchmakers know how to bring from time to time a nice touch of innovation. Not too much (which is difficult to service beyond a long term period and quite expensive) b...

Mark, thanks a lot for your comprehensive reply.

"engraving artwork " This is true, only for the case. Just wanted to mention it once more, because the technique used on the dial is different. Between the 150th and the 175th Anniversary a lot of things changed (at PP, in the market ...) and the commemor...

Yes, I noted what you said about the dial...

...and even had to go on Wiki for "embossment" :) As for the next coming Basel, we were indeed very spoiled this year with an event and new watches every 6 months! Cheers, Mark

that you got the details mentioned :-) Try to get some more details/info on that technique. "Spoiled" No, not at all. LOL Best, Oliver

When I put this 5275 on my wrist

 By: ch9698 : November 17th, 2014-10:01
it was a curious feeling, a mix between magic, magic of the jumping hour and the sound, and surprise, surprise of the engraving dial So for not the same reasons, I had the same feeling, good and bad But after on my wrist... Thanks very much Oliver for thi...

if you don´t mind. The dial is not engraved. It is embossed , which is even more uncommon. Best, Oliver

the finesse of the dial embossing - I have never seen such a fine embossing work before and I would love to know more about the technique. Also, I'd like to know how you feel about the slightly 'up-moved' center of gravity on this piece (dial a bit top-he...

"embossing"

 By: small-luxury-world : November 24th, 2014-10:16
For sure it is (today) a rare handicraft and I would like to learn more about it as well. Let´s see what I can do here :-) "top-heavy" That is the case for most of the jumping hours I know (Breguet, PP, Chronoswiss, AP ...), isn´t it. Regarding the syncro...

Curious about the chiming hour...

First, thanks for your excellent report, Oliver. Also curious about the chime hours... Does the gong show the "number" of hours indicated, i.e., 12 strikes for 12 o'Clock (like the hour repeater), or just simply one gong for every change of hour (no matte...
