and there is more to come, after our appointments in Basel. So far we have 33 novelties, but I am quite sure there will be more - at least in the Rare Handcraft section. We have nice iterations, we have to die for pieces ... and even one piece which proba...  

That is a watch that's just right. The 5524G however..... Don't get me wrong, obviously very beautifully crafted. But that watch should have been made out of steel.... Besides that, if one would like a watch in that sort of design there is more to choose ... 

If you are in the market for a complicated piece like this, better hurry to get one (some time soon ... if at all) :-) ...

I have no words - this 5370P is just FANTASTIC pieace! This is one the best ever Patek for me!

This 5370P seems very well proportioned and the black enamel dial looks wonderful. The only thing I may have in mind is that I remember seeing the 5170P (the black dial with diamond bezel) last year and something I didn't like that much is the very high c...

This has PP DNA all over it ( as apposed to some other novelties) I love the enamel dial and the split second complication built over the in house movement- wow I am wondering how smooth the pushers are though. I just love the lines on this plat case- pur... 

except it's dimensions, for me. The 41mm case is for my wrists too large. But I'm sure others who are able and do wear 40+mm watches will love it. It might even bring a few hockey puck players into the fold. Discrete dimension sizes on complicated Pateks ... 

A piece like this was on my wishlist for the 175Anniversary. In my dreams I saw the same caliber in a steel case. It mentioned it in an earlier post here on the same blog. Just a Rattrapante without the Perpetual Calendar. Beautiful, well done PP!!! Grab ... 

Thanks for the early pics Oliver. I haven't instantly fallen in love with a watch like this in years and the first new Patek in quite some time. It's brilliant. Although it's pricey I fear divorce will be more expensive if I can actually procure one. Best...

This might be the most discussed watch at BaselWorld 2015 yet - because of being controversial. Quite a few brands would "kill" to get such an attention :-) Me, looking forward to see it in the metal for several reasons. ...  

Its a brave watch ... for sure. I wont judge it. I wont buy watches over 40mm and I am generally not a fan of Pilot watches....so not fair to give a view really.

42 mm, if I am not mistaken? But in the instance of the 5070 it is surely hard to stick to rules I suppose :-) Best Moritz

....as my 40mm rule came into force in 2014. I bought my 5070 in 2009. I still own a few watches at 42mm, but I am no longer buying over 40mm.

time that a high-end manufacture would try something new and not another manual-wound, no date "classic" yawn watch. Something different for another audience or for these that already have too many dress watches to add a new one to the collection. Well do... 

A patek should be no more than 40 mm , except in grand complications. For a simple travel time pilot watch , with home time complications its big. In my opinion. Have not seen it in the flesh but that's my first impression. An iwc spitfire model like a mk... 

judging on the popularity of 5070. Unless you consider chronograph as grand complication?

I was very surprised to see this pilot watch but I must say since yesterday, my opinion has quite evolved a lot, in the positive way. From the first comments on the net, people tend to think about the Zenith but they forget that Zenith didn't create that ...

I don't know that much about them but remembered there were many back then. I don't know when it was created for the first time but much before the last Zenith pilot which was launched just a few years ago (not the original vintage one) Thanks for the rem... 

are liking more and more of what I'm seeing from Patek. I sensed that from the release of 5960/1A and the 5524G really reaffirms the fact that they are trying to expand into new horizon. Whether the 5524 is a success or not remain to be seen but I like th... 

We have the same feeling there Jester. From such a conservative brand (neutral meaning), any significant novelty will create quite much reactions. I think it is a good thing that Patek tries to explore new paths, even if it must be done avoiding negative ...

The hads, dial texture and the inlaid Arabic numerals are positive points for me. I'm not sold on the profile (due to the two extra crowns) and the choice of gold for the white metal case - steel would be more effective for a pilot's watch, no? The overal... 

This was a total surprise for me. I think this is the kind of watch that grows on you - the more one looks at it, wears it, thinks about it, the more one likes it. I wonder at what price point this will fly at.

As for the 5370, this one seems to look great, even if not housing an enamel dial. I think lacquered dials look fantastic too. Moreover, I hope the white markings are not to bright and they are well integrated (same issue than 5370) Two things I would lik... 

An admirable consolation prize to the 5370. Something a mortal can love. I'd say 2015 is a very good year for PP indeed.

Together with the 5370 I think that this is the novelty which really appeals to me. I didn't fall in love with any of the previous 5270 versions. I'm also looking to have a RG classical watch again for the unique look of this material. I think this 5270 v...

Thanks a lot for helping to be patient with these wonderful pictures Oliver. I had a close look at this dial compared to the WG's ones ("s" are they were already different from one another). Here we have a different Tachymeter scale, a gold frame to date ... 

First impression: improved readability ; top: 1681px; left: 18px;"> ...  

...but I must say this change has a great impact on the watch. To sum-up, I would say this watch is not the most impressive at first sight but that it might grow on me very much in the future (especially as I like automatic movements). Really looking forw...

5960 had additionally: PR indicator; 12 hours chronograph 5905 is more based on 5205 model for the dial side ;-)) In between 5205 and 5960. Cheers, Patrickh

Indeed the subdial had 2 hands in the 5960, hence the hours counter. Plus the PR (that I never liked as it reminded me of a +/- signs on a... battery). I really like this 5205 inspired dial. Will have to try it :) Thanks Patrick Mark

Thanks for posting dimensions of the 5905! A bit disappointed to see them going for larger diameter and thickness. The 5960P was perfect. The black dial 5905P looks particularly amazing, but if I could change something it would be the font of the chronogr...

i like the cleaner look. But if I was to get a new black dial PP from this years releases the 5170G is way ahead of the 5905P.... the 5170G in black looks amazing!

5905 has a sunburst ebony black dial 5170 has an opaline ebony black To be seen on wrist to choose which one has our preference, if any ;-))) BRs Patrickh
