Questions for Mr. Stern; a Poll

 By: teofft : March 3rd, 2014-07:07
I have the unique opportunity of spending an evening over dinner and drinks with Patek enthusiasts later this week (weather permitting). The guest of honor is Mr. Thierry Stern, President and CEO of Patek Philippe. I'm hoping to get some time to chat. I o...

If we will see more 5270 2nd series in new metals

 By: Fricks : March 3rd, 2014-10:14
basically if we will still have that belly at 6 on future models. Enjoy it!

Bigger brother to the 215 please?

 By: alphabeta81 : March 3rd, 2014-15:51
When are we getting that? The 215 is 22mm only! Does not fit the case of many 37 38 39mm Calatravas very well, allowing Patek to get smoked by Lange on the manual wind classics. So when do we see this? (everyone had hoped for a modern version of the 9 90 ...

The new VC manuals also sport larger movements.

Questions

 By: Conkers : March 3rd, 2014-16:20
1. Have they finally nailed the quality control issues for the silicon innards - what was the problem? 2. How do they see the physical sizes of their watches evolve going forward - possible small increases in line with current trends? 3. The above questio...

Leno versions

 By: watch-er : March 3rd, 2014-16:55
will be short lived and collectible even if they are odd indeed.

service

 By: nice2guy : March 3rd, 2014-17:58
Turnaround times are increasing for service in the U.S. (maybe elsewhere). I think we are at like 5 months or so. We know some of this has to do with there not being enough qualified matchmakers, but do we see this situation getting worse in the future an...

Probably the best question yet.

 By: whit : March 4th, 2014-11:25
Their plans to address this problem which has certainly been a source of irritation and disbelief for the past couple of years ... for a lot of folks.

Good question

 By: watch-fan : March 4th, 2014-11:52
Do a better job and make sure watch is working fine befor sending back to customer. My 5016P went in three times My 5961P went it two times My 5160J went it one time, now retrograde date is not working fine.

Wow!

 By: Conkers : March 4th, 2014-15:59
That's really poor, I am sorry to hear this. My service experiences with them, other than the lengthy waits, have been very good.

retrograde date

 By: watch-fan : March 4th, 2014-20:46
Retrograde date is always a problem. I don't why Patek doesn't test it before hand over to customer.

Upset

 By: watch-fan : March 4th, 2014-20:55
It stops me from buying anymore complicate repeater because poor service quality. I complained to service manager and he tried to ignore the problem. I have to contact someone else to get the service manager attention to fix my 5016P.

This is precisely why this question is so important.

 By: whit : March 5th, 2014-09:44
Any Patek owner to have experiences such as this is uncalled for, this kind of response/behavior is inappropriate. And, look at the result, loyal and true Patek owners are, I'm sure, looking elsewhere or certainly thinking about it. This area is the found...

Patek growing into themselves

 By: nice2guy : March 14th, 2014-15:29
This is precisely what happens when a product goes mainstream. Patek had the brand name and scarcity of product with which to capitalize on. Look at Mercedes Benz years ago. Not very popular in the US, 30-40 years ago. It was out of reach for just about e...

Why are Aquanauts not made as well as other Pateks?

 By: SooS : March 7th, 2014-16:33
:ook at the dial of the Aquanauts. The number 10 and number 2 do not line up in some watches. The number 2 is sometimes stamped higher in many watches. I am also still waiting for a second replacement rose gold Aquanaut which has a poorly polished case fr...

Some answers, more questions :)

 By: teofft : March 11th, 2014-09:10
So first, thanks to Danny Govberg for hosting a wonderful event at the Franklin Museum in Philadelphia for Patek enthusiasts. Mr. Stern was surrounded by collectors and admirers, but he was very gracious and was willing to speak to everyone in the audienc...

A 5040G? The tonneau shaped beauty that was discontinued for the 5940?

 By: no_frills : March 11th, 2014-11:37
You sure about that reference number?

5940g

 By: teofft : March 11th, 2014-13:36
yes, sorry, 5940g! that's the perpetual calendar with cushion shape case, correct? apologies for the mistake.

So evolution is to blame for larger diameter watches, not fashion.

 By: jimjenkins : March 15th, 2014-03:46
Very disappointing remark. Darwin will be rolling in his grave. When did evolution become the driving force for the watch industry ? Please, give me a brake. It is all about marketing and fashion. I am physically larger than my dad, and his 36 mm watches ...

evolution and fashion

 By: nice2guy : March 15th, 2014-09:04
I thought the same thing, but you beat me to the punch. I would guess 40 years ago the ave. watch was est. 33mm. I am not the anatomy expert, but to please our egos, etc. lets say our wrists are 5% bigger. Based upon human anatomy alone, that would put cu...
