Patek Philippe Super Heavyweights: Which one would you rather have?
Sep 04, 2014,13:39 PM
Patek Philippe makes some of the best watches in existence. And two watches in particular are rather special; the Henry Graves Supercomplication and the Caliber 89. Of the two, which one would you rather have? And why?

The Henry Graves Supercomplication watch was the most complex watch of its time. And remains to be the most complex pocket watch to ever be produced without the assistance of modern computers. Do you like this watch? And would you want to own it?
Pros:
1. Only one produced.
2. Most complex watch produced without computer-aided design.
3. Produced in 1933.
4. One of the most famous watches in the world. The fame of the Graves Supercomplication is only rivaled by a few even older Breguet pieces owned by French Royalty.
Cons:
1. Not the most complex watch ever produced.
2. More difficult to maintain.
3. Only 24 complications. The Star Caliber 2000, with 21 complications is now easily produced and nearly two dozen Star Caliber 2000 watches exist!
The Caliber 89 is the most complex watch ever produced period. Produced in 1989, it was a fine watch to celebrate Patek Philippe's 150th birthday.
Pros:
1. The most complex watch in the world.
2. The watch was made in different metals; yellow, white, and rose gold as well as platinum. So a choice exists.
3. A whopping 39 complications!
Cons:
1. Was produced with the help of computers.
2. One of pieces made.
3. Produced in 1989.
4. Really heavy, at 1.1 kg, this will tear a hole in your pocket.

If given the opportunity, which one would you rather have? If you were only to acquire one, which one would you acquire? And how many times more special would you think one is over the other?
