Its been a while... I used to have 13 watches, now I have just 3

 By: Jorge116.039 : October 20th, 2014-13:03
Some might remember when I posted here more often but I guess I been lying low. Whats new ?. Well I decided to shrunk my collection. I went from 13 to 3. Of those 13 worthy mentions are: PP 5146g, PP 5712/1a, Lange Timezone, Lange Saxonia Thin, AP 15300, ...

A shame you did not take a picture with all 13 watches on your arm

I am really hoping that you take it as: laughing with you and not at you! The remaining ones are very well chosen. A very nice shot of the 5205 there! Best Moritz

A very fine collection! Like also the Breguet Marine Big Date (if that was the correct name) on the far left, in RG in particular but also as the one you had. Best Moritz

Thanks

Yes thats the Name, I guess I am too worried now with value retention. I wish I could have more money and buy freely without worrying about that. So until that situation changes, every move will have to be like a chess move LOL

I know this blues ... Best Moritz [nt]

No, PAM 372 is gone, probably one of the best Panerai to own but with all that it didn't have enough wrist time. Regards Jorge

Your 5205r is a real gem.

Thanks for sharing the wrist shot!

Thanks mate

I really love that watch ...

Hey Jorge! Glad to see you again !

I remember your first post on PuristSPro was on the Montblanc forum lol :) And we used to chat in another forum too last year :) Welcome back! 3 superb watches! Agree that's all we all need. :) Problem is we will soon see something else we like lol! But y...

Thanks Robin

Nice to see you again friend. My idea is to have 3-4 watches at the stable at all times. You can flip whatever you want, but when you find 3-4 watches that you truly adore flipping gets harder. As far as strict watches, I dump that idea long time ago. The...

Can't take my eyes off...

... the 5712R. It is such a handsome watch and is really beautiful in rose gold. Cheers !

Thanks Chuck

I had it before in SS, but the RG wears so much better ...

yes

 By: chuck19 : October 20th, 2014-23:00
somehow i feel the same way that PP makes the precious metal verisions of the same SS model.. feels .. more softer and warmer.

After wearing both versions

 By: Jorge116.039 : October 21st, 2014-03:31
Rose Gold version feels better on my wrist, gold gives the weight needed for this thin watch. Plus the Bracelet is beautiful but it's a magnet for scratches. Don't get me wrong the 5712/1a is a beautiful watch as well, it just doesn't fit my wearing prefe...

I know tell me about it,

 By: Jorge116.039 : October 21st, 2014-03:37
But it hit my brain with an immense amount of reason that the switch was unavoidable. Regards Jorge

It is an interesting cocktail of maturing taste and dreams.

 By: amanico : October 24th, 2014-23:27
Maturing taste, because what pleased you at the beginning will maybe not survive to passing time.... Dreams, because you have to fund them, and no other choice than selling to achieve them. But at the end of all, it is a matter of reason. Where do you wan...

From 13 to 3 is not easy, but ...

I guess you learned a lot. Also you made lots of own experiences and get better in taking your own decisions. It might be hard sometimes for several reasons, but at the end I trust it pays back - even when not monetary. Now you have an eclectic trilogy an...

Yes I ..

Learn a lot, I learn to weed out all the WIS influence from my real likes. True I lost a lot of money, but that also gave me another learning experience. I created a personal rule when it comes to buy watches " Value Retention is a primary consideration w...

Seems like you moved a mountain of a task

 By: rnaden : October 21st, 2014-04:04
13 to 3....that must have been painful to go through. I have a hard enough time deciding which one to wear each week and which goes into the bank, but to reduce altogether?.. Great choice of the three though, I especially love the PP's. Not a huge fan of ...

Thanks Richard

I know what you mean, I was you not so long a go. And no reason in the world would of been good enough at that time to shrunk my collection. I thought "that's crazy" The WIS road is a different road for every person, and got to the conclusion that I got o...

Nice work on consolidation, I want to do the same, may have

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 21st, 2014-07:37
to learn from you....will PM you some day. Enjoy the trio.

Thanks, I truly believe that.....

 By: Jorge116.039 : October 21st, 2014-07:50
the point to truly want to consolidate, is a time that can't be imposed. I used to call crazy to anybody that suggest something similar to that "sacrilege" Today i think that 3-4 pieces is the sweet spot, anything from 5 and over is hoarding ... LoL Its j...

Well done!

Can't argue over taste, but you have choosen some very nice watches. Congrats! I fully agree with you, there is only one wrist and 7 days in a week. Besides that I tend to have a preference for one certain watch anyhow. So I went back from 7 to 5 watches ...

Absolutely !

 By: Jorge116.039 : November 2nd, 2014-13:50
I think 3-4 watches is perfect. My rule is you can buy/flip as many watches as you want as long as you keep 3-4 watches in your stable at all times. You can arrange the style according to your preferences but this seems to work for me: 1 dressy complicate...

Well done

Consolidating a collection is what I am currently trying to do. Will have to learn from you to get into the Forum as a Patek owner. I have an Art Deco platinum Longines, Universal Geneve Compur, a vintage 18k JLC two Rolex and three vintage Girard Perrega...

Yes you..

Should , it's all about learning what we really like and buying smart.

brilliant shot

Of the 5205R Jorge. Sounds like you are happy with just 3 watches.

Nice to see....

 By: Jorge116.039 : November 2nd, 2014-14:01
You here Ben, as you know I might be adding the AP diver in January to complete my 4. After that you won't see more adding, all I can do is flipping and that won't happen very easily because I truly like what I have.

Wise man !

 By: dirost : November 1st, 2014-08:27
You realized that they were only 7 days a week and you reduced from 13 to 3, which means a great effort ! Congrats ! I don't know if I would have done your choice (why not ?) but you've got an original selection ! Best.

Thanks

Right now I am contempt, but as you know it's always a work in progress. Is hard to pic 3 and be contempt, before I had more and I was never contempt for more than 6 weeks. Now I have 4.5 months and still strong

You could even narrow it down to 2

Kermit for fun/outdoor activities, and the one in the middle as a gorgeous extroverted piece to wear when gambling at Clermont. The Naut - well, I dont "get" it.

well I actually just raised to 5
