A wristshot of the 5524G

 By: foversta : March 25th, 2015-13:52
We had discussed and we will discuss a lot about this watch! Actually, I have to confess that I like it because it brings a new style to the contemporary collection of Patek using codes of watches of the beginning of the XXth century. Fx...

I'm not a fan of this new Patek watch design

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 25th, 2015-17:00
To me, it looks like a watch from Zeno. Doesn't fit in with the Patek prestige IMO. Cheers, Anthony

I'm sorry but at some point there should be a limit

the sky is the limit ...supply and demand

 By: christianch : March 26th, 2015-04:20
So few Patek are readily available at the boutique/AD that supply and demand dictate the prices...the sky is the limit. This is still a "budget" level patek :)

There are two philosophies

 By: cisco : March 25th, 2015-23:47
-One that says that Patek needed to get away from its conservatism and give something new and more refreshing, get new market. These one will be pleased. -One that says that Patek has to be conservative because it is part of their DNA. You like innovation...

Conservatism or not...

 By: amanico : March 25th, 2015-23:59
You pointed it, François... I have nothing against a less conservative Watch from Patek. But I am expecting something inspired. Look, the 5980, for example... Not very conservative, but it works. The 5960A, if you can remove this bracelet à la Pépé Le Moc...

agreed Nicolas

 By: cisco : March 26th, 2015-07:35
The Audemars RO Offshore in 1993 wasn't conservative, hate it or love it but it was innovative. The Vacheron Quai De I ile also, it was a major departure for Vacheron , again you can like or dislike it but it was innovative. here... following a trend badl...

100% right. [nt]

NT

The classic style and collections are STILL on the catalogue

 By: patrickh : March 26th, 2015-00:09
and PP conservative is always at his Best: no doubt for me. Now, a sportier collection is developping from Nautilus, Aquanaut, Calatrava Pilot,.... Just an additional collection. What a buz for JUST one new watch, when all the collection remain classic. I...

I have nothing against Nautilus and Aquanaut

 By: cisco : March 26th, 2015-07:41
for the rest even if it's one novelty, it's not a good sign imho :)

Get away from conservatism doesn't mean ...

 By: moc : March 26th, 2015-00:53
doing a collaboration with zenith in my opinion...there are better way to do that....I agree with you overall... Mo

"a collaboration with zenith"

 By: small-luxury-world : March 26th, 2015-04:01
I am not sure about this and you didn´t even mention all those Pilot watches in the market ... Stowa ... Lange ... IWC ... Just for comparison: Just looking at the case ... I see Patek :-) Cheers, Oliver ...

To attract "younger" buyers...

 By: Tonypatch : March 26th, 2015-04:10
....why not enter a cooperation with Fossil? The new "Bomber Harris / Let Dresden Burn" Patek Philippe by Fossil, with a nice "aged" leather strap made from WWII bomber pilot jackets

well said Oliver

 By: christianch : March 26th, 2015-04:15
The case is 100% Patek and it has nothing to do with other IWC pilot watches and even less Zenith. Can't everyone see, even just in the crown, the huge difference? This is not another funny-looking retro pilot watch. It is a modern interpretation by Patek...

Like Nicolas, we agree on that

 By: cisco : March 26th, 2015-07:44
it's not bad to go away from conservatism, but you can do it sith style and/or innovation. For example the 5227 was a brilliant modern twist to a classic line, modern but with style. This one miss it completely. cheers Mo François

I don't think that it damages the standard

 By: christianch : March 26th, 2015-04:12
How? Classic patek lovers have a lot of new models this year - how is adding 1 new watch damages Patek? If anything it brings some younger clients to the brand. I don't think that the world is really waiting for another (yawn) super complicated unreachabl...

This is what I call....

"future reference" from Patek Piece that is not accepted well but will be very sought after in future reaching big sale numbers on auctions in next century :) Best D

Just a human nature

I was prepared to dislike it, but failed ... when I looked closer and after it was on my wrist. Cheers, Oliver ;"> ...

Oliver, thank you my firend for that pictures...

"Leather" strap

 By: Tonypatch : March 26th, 2015-04:13
It looks like faux leather made to look like antique / worn leather.

In fact it is ...

 By: small-luxury-world : March 26th, 2015-04:22
called "vintage brown calfskin" by PP and to me it looks very similar to some of the best straps you can get from Hermes (and Blancpain´s Barennia straps from the past).

Yes, looks like barenia leather from Hermes

 By: EDJA : March 26th, 2015-04:44
The aging of Barenia is terrific

great photos!

 By: christianch : March 26th, 2015-04:18
Thank you for the great photos Oliver- same for me. I wasn't convinced until I saw it in person and...it is a completely different watch. Very charming and, in a way, modern thanks to the very useful complication and the modern movement.

great pics, thanks for sharing

 By: keks : March 26th, 2015-05:07
perhaps not as bad as it looked on the initial press pictures.

Spectacular shots my friend

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : March 26th, 2015-05:24
Eagerly looking for your full reports specially of that blue one ;) Yours D

Very nice pictures Oliver

 By: emcquillan : March 26th, 2015-06:03
Hmm..... interesting. Well, like always have to reserve judgment until I see it in person. Best,

I don't dislike it......

 By: Baron - Mr Red : March 26th, 2015-03:40
.....in fact it is on my buy list...... Ranked 1218th

LOL! [nt]

 By: amanico : March 26th, 2015-04:15

well

 By: keks : March 26th, 2015-04:17
by the time you get to 1218 you may desperately need it in order to be able to read the time, so not a bad idea to put it on the list ;)

gorgeous thanks for the wristshot

 By: christianch : March 26th, 2015-04:08
Gorgeous ! I couldn't try on the wrist but I saw it in person in Basel and it is really stunning. Finally something new with a useful complication

A pilot watch, with the Patek touch

 By: Fricks : March 26th, 2015-06:15
I agree with you, it brings a new style, some fresh air in a very conservative and classic catalogue. Why couldn't Patek make a diving watch as well? Even if they never did before. I say that as long as its well made, it will beat all stereotypes people h...

The comments remind me when the nautilus was launched in 1976

By: Mark in Paris : March 26th, 2015-08:51
Very difficult to say if this one is a Nautilus in power or something they shouldn't have released. For now, without having the watch in my hands and not beeing a fan of pilot watches, I don't know. I feel that I like the gainy blue dial on pics a lot and...

Design-wise looks like an IWC. I like it.

 By: BABKA : March 26th, 2015-15:36
Thanks for the nice wrist shot!
