arrival of "my" (so of speak) PP 7200R

Dec 06, 2013,11:18 AM

Hi everyone,

A couple months after Basel this year, I saw this piece in the metal at the Beijing boutique during the Basel follow-up tour and thought highly of it.  Although the case is only 34.6mm, the 7200 (I think) fits okay on me given my small wrist.  Problem is that the "matt pearly beige" strap does not look good on me.

A number of months thereafter, my AD in was able to reserve one for me / my wife.  Apparently production for the 7200R has been flowing / trickling in for the past few months with demand being quite strong in Hong Kong (i.e. China).

The Mrs and I visited the AD, and she took a quick look & took possession.  Not to be out-done, I got an extra brown strap so that when my wife is not wearing "her" watch, I would quietly switch the straps and put it on my wrist.

Observations about this watch:

  • the rose gold looks more like yellow gold
  • the dial has a bit of sparkle to it in that the surface is not flat as something seems to have been sprinkled on top (hard for me to explain - is there a special term for this finishing?? )
  • very thin movement and the watch is very light

Please take a look at the photos and let me know whether you think:

  • it is too small on my wrist ?
  • the brown strap would work on a man ?

Not too big, not too small. And the darker brown strap turns it to a masculine watch. Great choice. Best, Kari

Thanks Kari for your assessment

With your written support, I will negotiate hard with the Mrs to ensure that I get more wrist time with the 7200R !! Cheers, Gordon

Fantastic Gordon!

And consider the dark brown strap made-to-measurements and then add PP deployment buckle with Calatrava Cross. And naturally all straps with the quick bars so then you can change from strap-to-strap in a couple of seconds. Good stuff! Best, Kari

quick change of strap ??

Hi Kari, You mean I can change the strap myself quickly ?? If so, that will be great!! If so, I need to buy a special tool, right ? Thanks, Gordon

No, you do not need any tools.

It's difficult to take a good pictures. Look at the spring bar... There is a kind of knob and you can release the strap from the case by just pressing the knob towards the other lug. Takes around 30 seconds and no tools are needed. Ask that from PP when y...

I hope the far eastern taste will bring the sensibly sized watches back

Hello there, looks great on your wrist. Actually, I have not seen here for a long time a watch matching so nicely on a wrist. A watch can be big but definitely not all watches have to be big and to the taste of the "big is better" thinking folks. With a b...

yes in deed the split second! But in rose with diamonds it is a hard to sell as unisex. In platinum or white gold not that much ... Best Moritz

Sorry,

I forgot that 7059R has those diamonds. These stones are really not needed. Best, Kari

I like your suggestion !!

Hi Moritz, Yes, given its size, the 7200 is a unisex model. Its smaller size does take a bit of time getting used to because 37mm+ is now the "norm" Your suggestion of the 7000 minute repeater version (although slightly smaller at 33.7mm vs 34.6mm) as an ...

"the dial has a bit of sparkle"

Indeed, the dial shows subtle and nice details. It reminds me the dial of the Ref. 5940J ... The dial looks more like "egg shell" on the official press pictures and sometimes almost "cold", but in real it is different and nice to look at . The case is bea...
