For many Panerai enthusiast size matters. Panerai simply means “big”. And again for many enthusiasts, Panerai means simplicity. But then, there are some Panerais which are not that big and not that simple but still can win hearts. I’m talking about 42 mm chronographs.
Being a chronomaniac and not so crazy about oversized watches, a few 42 mm Panerais have always deeply impressed me. Yes, when it comes to beauty, I believe size doesn’t matter. What matters is the harmony; proportions and balance. Add rarity on top, you find yourself in a world of unreachable beauties, which by many enthusiasts were underestimated in the past.
I just wanted to share with you two 42 mm chronographs, which to my opinion are two marvels on the wrist. (There is actually a third one I would love to share, but unfortunately it is in Switzerland for periodic maintenance at the moment; so no chance to take a wrist shot.)
Mare Nostrum, you all know. But Slytech version with polished bezel is another story. Only 31 pieces in the world, if I’m not mistaken.
Once you put it on your wrist, you hardly take it off.
The other one is a Radiomir in platinum: PAM218. It was specially made to celebrate the 100 Jahre Wempe Chronometerwerke.
Panerai in precious metal had always confused my mind. But in time, I came to a conclusion that platinum deserves an
exception. Feeling the weight and novelty of the beautiful metal on the wrist, is an experience that can hardly be expressed.
30 pieces worldwide. Well, it was never easy to get one, even if you were a good customer of WEMPE.
I love these watches not only because that I find them beautiful. It is also the hunting pleasure I once experienced to get them.
The next watch I hope to add to the 42 mm family in the future is a ………(?)
A Zerograph (I hope)
This was just for sharing with you the joy of wearing these beauties. I hope you enjoyed.
Best
