5396 RG or 5040 RG

Jun 15, 2008,00:38 AM

After having the 5040 (with breguet style numerals) and the 5396 on my wrist a couple of weeks ago, I am doubting my earlier decision to go for the 5396 since then. They are totally different in style (imho). I do have a large wrist, but the amazing thing is that with the breguet style numerals the 5040 doesn't look that small. My question now to you all, what to do, buy the 5396 within next months or wait till I have raised enough to go for the 5040. Is the 5040 desirable, my AD told me that the 5040 isn't an interesting watch (!), is that true? Also, he told me that it would be foreseeable that the 5040 will go out of production. Could you help me out, I cannot sleep anymore smile THANKS....

Hi, My personal choice, so it may not be yours, would be to go for the 5040R over the 5396! I love the 5396, but a perpetual calendar is more fascinating. The calibre 240 is also IMO more interesting than the 324. Finally I love the 5040 case. I like it a...

Totally. I don't think a black dial with a RG case has ever been produced. It'd been a super nice combination and surely I'd order one in that case. My personal preference would be: black dial w/ white case > silver dail w/ rose case > silver dial w/ whit...

Why 240 more interesting caliber than 324?
