5960 Calendar problem

Jan 31, 2011,16:41 PM

Dear all,

I have had a 5960P for just over 2 years, but I don't wear it often. This time I've been wearing it for about a week then suddenly I found that the month didn't switch over to FEB this morning (both Day and Date changed correctly to MON and 1). So, I performed the following 2 experiments

1) I adjusted the date to JAN 29 and then use the forward time adjustment (with the crown) to set it pass 30th, 31st and then I found this time the month switched over to FEB correctly (as did the day and date).

2) I repeated the experiment by reseting the date to JAN 29, but this time I adjusted the time forward to 10pm on JAN 31 and let it run normally. Again, only the day and date changeover correctly. The month did not change over even after 5am (not realtime, but experimental time). In real time it is now nearly 2pm local time (GMT+13)

Can anyone please offer any suggestions on how to deal with this problem? Is sending it back for repair to only way?
I hope it is not anything major because it no longer carries any warranty.

Thanks.

Backward.... I mean, with some perpetual calendars, you can go backward, and if you do so, you cause some serious damages to the movement. Therefore, you should avoid changing the date between what some brands call the " dead zone ", which is between 10 P...

Check this also and do the same experiment again. But bare in mind, as mentioned by Nicolas: never turn the date with the crown backwards! Also: the 5960 is not an anual calendar where you can adjust independently day, date and month, as far as I know. Yo...

Many thanks to all those who have responded. I did follow the instructions exactly, but I am now going to run the experiment once more and if it fails then I guess I have no choice but to send it in for service. Incidentally, yesterday I randomly tested t...

When I first purchased my 5960P, my watch did the exact same thing when April 30th changed to May 1st. I returned to my AD and he reset it exactly as the manual indicated. No further problem since then. My 5036 did this, too. Pateks must be set using the ...

Please let us know what happens after you try all the suggestions.... I hope that the problem gets resolved... However, if it doesn't, I suggest that you sent it to PP as soon as possible, as delaying could make it worse... Good luck... Cheers

af, high and welcome to the forum..........

I had a similar issue with my 5205G back in November, when everything but the month changed on the 30th. So like has already been mentioned, I used the pushers to manually change the month and date to the end of each month and then manually wound it throu...
