Finally, won a watch at auction - Christie NY Online. I've never owned a watch with a cover. Looks cool. PATEK OFFICERS WATCH, REF. 5153, circa 2014, white gold, 38mm, CALIBER: 324 SC. There's a nice 21k gold rotor, but the watch does not hack? Fortunate...

Congrats - truly beautiful. I'd be interested to hear more about your auction experience...

Would you do it again? What would you do differently? How do you think the "defects" you've now found effect the value you placed on the watch... regardless you've got something truly great here - enjoy!

It's always an adventure

Auctions are always risky even with big names like Christies and Sotheby. Normally, I would ask for a full set of photos, particular for older watches. This time I didn't because how much damage could a 2014 watch have? Haha! I can live with the damages o...

This is the present day Calatrava I like best.

You have a great watch. I say this as I owned the same model for 6 months and it was a reliable and elegant companion. The only reason why I had to let it go was to finance another Patek, my 7200R London Edition.

Absolutely agree with you [nt]

I've been able to try the R ( www.watchprosite.com ) and G Black dial ( www.watchprosite.com ) versions and this is indeed a watch I appreciate a lot. It has this very special case among the collection that brings a lot of charm (lugs, rou...

Thank You, Sir [nt]

I wanted to share the experience of the auction (caveat emptor) with you guys. Normally, I buy new. But, there are deals for pre-owned watches that are heavily discounted. New Patek watches have little discount. So, it was worth the bother to acquire this...

What is an Officers Watch?

 By: jim vancouver : September 10th, 2017-13:33
What is an Officers Watch? After the discussion with Shak, I was intrigued enough to do research. The military wristwatches originated in WW1. Most were issued to officers, though artillery NCOs and signallers must have also had their wristwatches. In add...

Why aesthetics matter?

During Abraham-Louis Breguet's lifetime, the aristocracy were the major influence on art. Educated and literate, the urban sophisticates expected their heavenly goods to be elegant, witty and titillating. Breguet's numerals became popular because it had t...
