I second to that...!

There is this one store we went to in HK (sorry no name as per forum guidelines) all hard to get Patek's (in all metals) e.g. Patek enameled world time were just sitting in their display drawers.  I'm not talking of Patek alone, all top brands APs , Panerais, VC, JLC etc etc.

IN contrast when we went to a Panerai Boutique, there were less than 10 regular watches available for sale and the clerk simply says; its all we have.

My friend bought his AP limited edition (in its original packaging)  in that store and the papers are open dated but with store stamp somewhere in Italy.  They are not so friendly, in fact snobbish, but once you get their drift, they will let you try on the watches.

No, it is just like the 5970 and all the rest. It might be limited in production at first, but do not see it as an application piece. But the 5207 is an application piece.

NO

This is a standard production piece with no questions asked. But as said will be hard to find from ADs.

Yes - It is an application piece

Was just told, by two AD's that 5270 has been announced as an application piece. I just completed application for the watch. Also heard that 5131 J and G are being phased out - they will announce 5131R shortly.

Visit HK and you will have a very different perspective

I second to that...!

but at what price?

I assume you're talking about GD in HK. In the US, we try to buy them from AD at MSRP, that's why we need to fill up these applications. I doubt the HK GD sell these hard to get PP at MSRP.

I would NEVER fill out a PP application!

 By: Mostel : August 6th, 2011-16:53
Agh! God is this insulting and absurd! As you fill out your application, Patek AD's 'back door' the same watch to a gray market pal... Sorry, ridiculous! But good luck whatever you do.

Call HSWA and ask

 By: jonrus : August 6th, 2011-18:23
I would not fill up an application unless verifying with HSWA to make sure that the information is required. I was asked to fill up an application for the 5250 years ago, and the AD sold it to another customer. At the end, the AD knew all of my collection...

Application

I do not agree. Many watches are strictly special order as the minute repeaters and split seconds chronograph perpetual, etc, To get these watches you need to order, wait with no fixed final price and convince the maker you are an end user and not a resel...

app piece

Yes. App piece.

thanks for the info

 By: jonrus : August 6th, 2011-21:00
Given this to be the case, I will still wait for my AD to get an allocation prior to filling up the form. Correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that the AD will be allocated, then the AD will choose the customer who will fill up the form for submi...

Application piece or not

 By: tahoeblue : August 7th, 2011-16:23
I don't see this as being a particularly hard piece to come by in the future, so long as you are patient. May be limited production, but ultimately I would expect more of these on the market than the Lemania versions, which are not particularly hard to fi...

Another Yes.

My AD showed me the letter from HS stating that it is in fact an application piece. It's my grail for now so I plan on completing an app and patiently wait.

Spoke with my AD today, he was in his store doing paperwork. Received his letter yesterday that the 5270g is in fact an application piece. FWIW

Shortage

 By: watch-er : August 8th, 2011-16:17
They may have regrouped as the supply of this reference is limited. But, the piece was to be regular production, not special order.I view it as a good thing as the only people who got the 5970s were the gray market folks. Patel does not want to repeat tha...

Just had a nice day of golf and a great dinner with the people from HSWA, and the 5270g is definitely an application piece.. Thierry was there as well.

Forgot to mention that I tried on the 5270G and saw the new regulator and 5550, and the 5496P. The 5270G is a pretty cool watch.

PP 5270g

 By: HOB : August 27th, 2012-06:27
Good afternoon - my first post, so excuse any possible etiquette with it - I received my 5270g just a few days ago and it is an incredible watch. I know PP does not publish how many units they produce. Any idea what type of production PP would have for su...

Just came back from a PP Golf Outting. According to HSWA This ref is a application piece. We did see this ref in metal. PP hit the ball out of the park with this one. Drop Dead gorgeous. Perfect

No application

I have an offer from my AD recently. No application needs.
