Problem with 5971 is aesthetics
If you ask me, the 5971 looks very nice except for the diamonds. A lot of people do not like it. Technologically, the 5004 is a better watch. It depends on what you are looking for. The 5970 looks nice except that it does not have a black dial and platinum. However, people prefer 5970 as it has no diamonds. I remember one person (quite harshly) saying that the 5971 "makes one look like a pimp."
PATEK 5971, should I get it?
Any thoughts on 5971? My AD offers me the watch but not sure if I should get it. I know this piece is very hard to get and I do like the watch even though it has the bling. Not sure if 5970p would be availabe in the future and still not sure if I was able...
In My Opinion
I personally think the 5004 is the watch you want to get if you have a choice. While the 5970 is a tremendous piece, I personally think the split chronograph is a greater feat in watchmaking. The 5971 as opposed to the 5970 are two very different watches....
I have to agree with what most other members have........
already stated and that is either to wait for Basel and see what happens. Or go with either a 5970 or a 5004. The 5971 is a great watch, if it didn't have the bling! I love the black dial, but have never liked to see diamonds,Baguettes etc on a gents watc...

Is it official that 5004p is out of production, what about 5004G? I guess I should seriously consider 5971p if 5004 is out of production unless there is a new model 5970p at the Basel 2009. Thanks!
