hi, would like to get some opinion on this. I am looking for an entry level model of PP. Thanks

My entry level going model is going to be the....

Hi, The 5167A is my choice! You get a cal 324 like the base in the 5159! The watch is somewhat discreet, modern, water resistant, and if you like it like I do, beautiful! Cheers Dje

That would be my choice, too

I have waivered on the Aquanaut for the past year or so, myself. The trouble is I keep wanting some other watch more when it comes down to getting one. It is after all, a fairly simple time-only piece in SS (although I think you may be after the new RG mo...

I like the Aquanaut too...

I think the 5167 is an excellent Patek. I would suggest the 5167R as i think the brushed gold looks great. Hoping to buy this latter one any time soon. As plain Patek's go, i think it is my favourite.

Totally agree 5167 In any derivative..

And its a really comfortable watch for daily wear. If you want an entry level complication then 5146?

5196 / 5296

Entry Level choice

 By: fnk : July 15th, 2009-01:26
I’m a bit surprised that the Aquanaut is seen by so many as the best entry level PP. I would have thought it would be Calatrava all the way, or maybe an annual calendar. These, IMHO, typify PP much better than the sportier models. My first & only PP was a...

My choice would also be a Calatrava...............

Namely the 5127G

Sadly, the 5127 has been discontinued...

Another one of my favorite Calatrava pieces. Big sweep seconds (less elegant but more practical), crown protectors, screw-down crown. Another family member also loves this piece. We are both very sad to see this piece discontinued.

I agree Patrick..................

But I think that I would be more then happy to purchase a pre-owned one.

5296 non-sector dial

 By: w220 : July 15th, 2009-08:24
When someone says "Patek Philippe", I don't think the Aquanaut would be the first watch that would come to mind. The Aquanaut is not the best representative of the brand. A Calatrava would be a much better representative. Of the current line up, I would c...

5085/1A

I think the 5085/1a represents a great value and has many of the feature PP owners desire along with an attractive price-point on the secondary market.

6000G; if you like it...

 By: patrick_y : July 15th, 2009-12:32
The 6000G would be my choice! You get the 240 caliber, the one with the micro-rotor, and where you can see all the beautiful finishing. This is also the base caliber for many other special watches. The watch is also motor-car inspired. One thing to overco...
