Hey Jay,

Jun 09, 2009,08:02 AM

I had the strap of my 5711 changed to the synthetic one. They told me they had two colors as gqmagic mentions in his post; a brown one and a gray one. As I have the WG version I took the gray strap. Here are some pics of the old and the new:

Let me apologize in advance for the sweat stains on the original leather strap, but the watch is so comfortable that you don't want to take it off for any reason (except to switch to a different watch that is):

While the original leather strap looks much nicer, the synthetic one is much more functional... works in the pool smile

I have heard this strap is available to replace the leather one. Does anyone know what colors can be had? Also, any pics? Thank You, Jay

In 2008 they introduced Composite Straps

For Nautilus 5711 and 5712, brown for the rose and gray for the white. They come in addition to the leather straps, they're plain looking and water resistant. All gold Nautilus should have them by now.

is the composite strap available....

...for the steel 5711 too? if yes, would Patek be able to fit it and provide a clasp too? thank you

I do not think they make a steel clasp. Also, from what I hear it

is more on the functional and not the most beautiful. The concept is having a band for the strap models that cna be used in water. Your watch already could be used in water, so it is a little bit redundant. More interesting could be if you could get a lea...

5711 - swapping straps

 By: webvan : December 21st, 2009-06:42
Thanks for the pics. Have you switched back and forth since ? Can you do it yourself or does it have to be done by an AD? How comfortable is the rubber strap? I find the leather strap on my 5711G doesn't offer much grip and as a result the watch sllides f...

I actually swapped straps a couple of days ago myself. It probably took me 5-7 minutes, it's very easy to do. Basically you take out a screw, push the bar through the strap, and take out the strap. Very easy. Just don't be afraid to give the bar a firm pu...

Thanks for the Nautilus strap swap lesson !

Very informative, thanks! Good to hear the swapping isn't too much work. By looking at the top of the watch I was concerned it might be difficult to put back the bar properly so the screw can be placed properly. Probably pretty easy to screw it in wrong a...

Glad to be of service...

I am not sure about putting the bar in improperly as, from what I remember, it is smooth except in the middle where the screw goes in. Basically I was able to do it on my first try and there were no problems, so I am not sure about damaging the threading....
