2013 Patek Philippe novelties cocktail at Paris
Jun 27, 2013,15:10 PM
Dear all,
I'm just back from the 2013 novelties cocktail organized by Patek Philippe France at the Hotel Particulier Weston close to the Iena Square.
Of course, one of the objectives for the guests was to discover the new collection which was displayed in different showcases put around the main rooms of the Hotel at the 1st floor.
But, as always, the most interesting part of the cocktail is the ability to discuss between clients of the brand and... with Sandrine and Thierry Stern themselves who made the great pleasure to be with us.
I propose you to browse some pics of the event, I tried to catch its atmosphere with my small camera at the waist.
The Hotel Particulier Weston is a spectacular mansion located a few step from to the Iena Square:

A charming singer was welcoming the guests at the first floor:
Of course, at a Patek Philippe event, we can only expect a refined decoration:
Meanwhile, the official photographer is working with Sandrine and Thierry Stern:

The number of guests was perfect because the rooms were not too crowded. it is much better to be able to easily move from one place to another one!

The most iconic monument of Paris is visible from the back of the Hotel Particulier:
Time is coming to prepare some wristshots for the report! Of course, I start with the watch I had on my wrist this evening:
A mere 5711:
Mere 5711? I was totally wrong! This is a platinum 5711!
I saw several 5131 during the event... we often say that we travel in our mind with worldtimer watches due to the presence of the timezones on the dial. The 5131 is more than this kind of travel... it is a dream, the feeling to be above the Earth, in the clouds!
A superb vintage chronograph, the 1463:

I had the chance to speak with them during almost half hour. I could appreciate their availability and their kindness. We spoke about the latest novelties, the competition, the strategy and it is always positive to feel the permanence of the strategy of the brand. It is without any doubt the main asset of the manufacture. I have to confess that I'm not a fan of brands which act like roller-coaster and I know that I'm not the only one.
I could meet some French friends with Raul of the Paris Boutique on the right:
Let's have a quick look of some novelties. Sadly, the quality of these pictures doesn't meet my expectations and as usual, it is difficult to shoot watches in their displays. Anyway, you have the full reports from Oliver if you want to see pictures with the quality these novelties deserve.
I would like to start with the most baroque Patek, the 6002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. I find it a bit too "overloaded" for my taste even if it is a superb demonstration of craftsmanship.
Now the 5170 comes with a WG case. It is a very discreet watch which takes advantage of the in-house chronograph movement. Due to the vintage inspiration of its style, I think that I prefer the YG version even if this one is very nice.
The 5227 is a superb 3 hands watch whose simple beauty is enhanced by the use of the hinged case. You can enjoy this case type by keeping the purety of a classic case because the hinge is invisible.
Another watch I don't need to introduce is the Gondolo 5200. Sadly, the blue dial version was not displayed at the event.
In a similar aesthetical approach than the new Sky Moon Tourbillon, we have the 5160. I don't know why but I think that this decoration style works better with this watch:
We could also see some evolutions of already existing models like this PG 5205 or the 5396 with bracelet:
It was, once again, a great and friendly event. I would like to thank a lot the staff of the Patek Philippe boutique in Paris, Alexa and Raul as pictured below and their colleagues for the perfect organisation.
Fr.Xavier
