Baselworld 2014 – Patek Philippe Enamel Dials
Following some pictures of the enamel dials displayed at the Patek Philippe stand. I was simply fascinated by the intense colours.
“Water Lilies and Lotus” in Rose Gold. Dial in pliquė-a-jour enamel (cut out cells filled with enamel, inserts under translucents enamel) , 59 emeralds and one pink diamond.
“Water Lilies and Koi Carps” in rose gold. Rose gold dial with pliquė-a-jour enamel, cloisoinee and miniature enamel.

I never imagined I could get fascinated by the feathers of birds. But I spent a lot of time admiring the vivid colours, the various shades and nuances and reflections on the dial.
PP 5077P-100 St. Pierre Cathedral, Geneve in PT. White enamel applied on a dark base using a fine brush or a needle. This technique is apparently called "Grisaille du blanc Limoges". There is always something to learn....

“Kingfisher” – Pocketwatch in white gold decorated with a cloisonne enamel kingfisher . Hand engraved background with engraved mother of pearl water lilies.
Ref. 982/143G Japanese Cranes in White Gold. Open faced Pocket Watch. The subtle nuances of the painting was obtained by extensive combinations of very few enamel colours. As many as 15 to 20 firings at a high temperature off apprx 800 degree were required to complete the fine enameling of the caseback

Finally a Sky Moon Tourbillon Ref. 6002. in white gold. Case, lugs and slide piece entirely decorated in relief hand engraved. Blue enamel gold dial. Dial center decorated in blue gradient cloisonné enamel.
