Because it's there

This is my first long post to the forum, this a very nice place to learn, so here is my watch quest history, sorry for the long writing, and thanks for reading.

My first contact with the watch fever was about four years ago, I was shoping and suddenly I see a steel watch with a green metalic bezel that  took my mind off, as you may guess it was a Rolex submariner (not the one with ceramic bezel). I said to my self lets forget it, but once you are bitten there is no way out, I begun reading about watches, brands, etc., and some time after this  I ended buying a Rolex Submariner with the green ceramic bezel. But during that study time, I learnt about a Brand, Patek, but the watches were so expensive that I said to my self let forget it, for the second time. Some time after, I was visiting a local watches dealer and it happened that it was a Patek AD, this was my first face to face contact with this beautiful time pieces, I was able to  handle some nice pieces:  5711, 5712, 5146r, 5159j, 5140r  and guess what, a 5131J, this WT was just beatiful, the next day I went back and the 5131j was gone. Even if it was expensive, but it was retail price, I felt that I missed an opportunity in a life time, again I said lets forget it, for third time. Time passed, I was secretly mourning because of the 5131j, until I forgot it. Months after this  I returned  to the Patek AD, this time I was able to handle more nice time pieces: 5205, 5170j, 5153, 5098,... and there it was a 5130P, by that time I have learnt a lot about the 5130P, but I never imagined that I could find it so soon, but there it was, simple, but complex, beautiful case, beautiful movement, the world in this small case, I saw that the beatiful blue center could play tricks when reading the time, and that this WT may be not so practical in some situations, but this time I didn´t say lets forget it, and I bought it. Then I understood that although there is some rational process involved here, there is irrationality too, just beauty, equilibrium and aesthetics. TIme has passed and I have been offered a 5140p 27%off, a 5170j and other nice Pateks, I must confess I wanted that 5140p badly, but I had to let it go. So what is next ? don´t know, but I have learnt a lot about my self since I was bitten by the watch bug. At the end the only reason I have found valid in order to go after a nice watch is because those marvelous works of art are there...

And now, here you have the 5130p, it has been here for more than one year, this is my almost daily user watch. Sorry for quality of the photo, my blackBerry is not the best camera to photograph watches , (better pics in the future).

Thanks Jorge.

And, I do believe, an icon. I siad it many times, but the WT from Patek is a milestone, in this complication. Who does nicer WTs than Patek??? For the moment, no one. Therefore, the complication is firendly. And, this Watch has a sou! In a word, this Watc...

WTers are nice indeed but again Patek is lifting the bar with their offerings. As much as I admire other manufacturers version of a WTer, Patek is lifting the bar here when it comes to elegance and comfort. The whole package is just so well put together. ...

wonderful watch

Great post George and amazing watch you have there. Nobody does the WT quite like Patek IMO. Was the 5131J when you viewed it able to purchase by just anyone or on hold for a special client?

Hello, thanks for your comment, and George is my name in English, no problema. The 5131J that I saw was on hold, the client who applied for it had more time pieces on hold, and by that time the AD wasn´t sure if the customer could pay all that watches, by...

This 5130P is a very special watch, I think I will be wearing it for a long time. I have been looking for my next Patek for a while, I know I could always ask the local AD to get a time piece for me, and this may take some time, so I will wait until the r...

I know the anguish that can come when you take a moment to decide and then you go back … and it's gone. But the pain is forgotten when the joy comes rushing in once you acquire it! Good job. Aloha, Bob

Congrats for the WT ! This watch is deeply related to Patek imho and the choice of the platinum version is great. Your story with watches is also mine but I started it 15 years ago, as I was young ;-) Best.
