7200R with brown strap - a masculine female watch or a feminine male watch ?

Jan 25, 2015,06:27 AM

Dear All,

About a year ago, I wrote about the arrival of my / my wife's 7200R with "matt pearly beige" strap.

patek.watchprosite.com

Finally, I convinced my wife to take off the watch and let me put on the brown strap so that I could wear it for a "few" days.

Below are photos of the 7200R with brown strap and a photo of it with the original "matt pearly beige" strap on my wrist.

What do you guys think of the overall fit and looks of the two different "watches" on my wrist ?

Thanks,

Gordon

It is just a watch which can easily be worn by a man.

With the dark brown strap it will be a watch more for a man. Its a unisex watch imo. The original light strap would fit a female , definitely more girlish. Cheers Geross

Hi geross, I agree with your comments !! The only slight issue for 7200 is...

Yes, sharing watches with your spouse is great!

Thank you Gordon. I like the 7200 and never dared to ask the question that you are asking. Its style is simple, yet perfect, and it resembles the (unreachable) 5339. Now you make one dream of mine getting a bit closer ... Regards Abdullah

Until about 20 years ago, Patek used to produce a men's watch that looked remarkably similar to the 7200R, the 3820R (sorry I do not have a photo of this watch)which was a manual winding watch with the ultra flat caliber 177/02 and that watch was only 32m...

Hi Oliver, the 3820R is also very delicious !! But why is

a rose gold case matched with a black strap ? IMO, it downgrades the appeal of the overall look. In terms of officer case, how about the below reference with Brequet numerals (although also has sweeping seconds hand and a date window) ? Cheers, Gordon 515...

It is just a matter of taste/style, isn´t it. 5153 "Beijing" - Yes, it comes with a date and center seconds as well. A date at 3 works better for me, but still I would prefer it without date, without center second and a manual movement instead. But it is ...
