Anniversary Arrival!
Feb 24, 2015,15:08 PM
Well my 175th Anniversary piece just arrived and I'm elated!
All of the anniversary watches are special in their own right,
but this one in particular tugged at my heartstrings and had me dreaming.
On a side note the rare handcraft anniversary pieces :
1. Do not have a special presentation box, just the regular production one.
2. Do not have any special paperwork
3. Do not come with an anniversary deployant clasp, just the regular tang buckle
4. Do not come with a commemorative coin.
In fact the only feature that identifies this watch as part of the 175th collection
is the engraving on the case back. But unlike the other pieces in the collection
the rare handcraft pieces come with a hinged dust cover!
And as one starts to consider the nature of this watch it becomes evident that,
less is more.
The hinge for the dust cover is integrated into the case ala 5227.
Brushed center, polished lip, pure poetry.
The real attraction however is dial side, an engraved dial depicting
scenes of Geneva harbor and the old Lake Geneva barques.
But the scene changes depending on lighting and angle.
Here it seems like a night sky over a moon lit lake?
While in the picture below a cloudy rainy day can be imagined.
Different angles, coupled with different lighting gives a different interpretation.
I couldn't think of a more apropos theme than the one contained within this dial
to celebrate this 175th anniversary.
The Breeze and Storm ref. 5089-013G ticks all the boxes in my book.
Sincerely
H.
