??Uhh... I'm drooling already and I'm supposed to hit the gym in an hour or two.

Thinking maybe I should skip the gym and head straight to lunch. All tempting dishes you show there. I have had some of them as I am in Bangkok. Ruckdee

How can you get fat on good asian food?

 By: mrsnak : March 27th, 2011-18:16
Unless you eat way too much? Takes so much more to arrive at the same caloric load typical American food is - and we deal with it every day, gym and all.

Yes, I ate a whole lot. Gained 40 kilos in four years in late '90s.

 By: Ruckdee : March 27th, 2011-19:42
Never can get rid of it since. Well at least I can correct my behavior of midnight meal/snack and excessive drinking. That helps. Ruckdee

Yum!

 By: dxboon : March 26th, 2011-22:02
I've not eaten anything recently as good as all your meals, Cen! Everything looks tasty. I think the chicken noodle in particular would hit the spot any day! Cheers, Daos

If those were YOUR meals ...

If I edited a post it would show up with the edit message and time stamp at the bottom. Maybe the smell of the durian messed up the computer? -MW

There's a place near Jed's house which serves similar fare.

Hello Tony, It's a chain from Tel Aviv that's a mix of Lebanese, Israeli, Moroccan, Iraqi, and Turkish cuisine. They have a Taboon (sp?) oven to make that delicious Laffa bread so it comes out hot and fresh. Any favorite Middle Eastern restaurants near yo...

The fresh madeleines look amazing!

 By: dxboon : March 27th, 2011-17:41
Ping makes great homemade madeleines. Next time you're in LA we'll have to ask her to make some! Cheers, Daos

I was going to say the same thing

 By: mrsnak : March 27th, 2011-17:47
Those madeleines were mighty fine looking.

A fresh madeleine is awesome.

Anything in the donut family for me

One of the more importamt food groups.

How am I going to eat all those?

 By: AndrewD : March 28th, 2011-14:48
I just wanted a little something with coffee to round off the meal. When the Madeleines came out I thought to myself: "how am I going to eat all those?", but I can tell you that they all disappeared! Delicious. Andrew

We are on the same wavelength when it comes to donuts.

 By: dxboon : March 29th, 2011-07:29
I am walking distance (1.5 blocks) to a Winchell's that is open 24/7. It's not the fanciest or best donut place, but if you get there early in the morning they have these things called "puffs" (I think. Usually, I just point at the case.) that are like be...

Beignets from Cafe Du Monde...

 By: mrsnak : March 29th, 2011-18:22

There's nothing like fresh beignets at Cafe du Monde!

 By: dxboon : March 30th, 2011-07:02
Yes, it's a tourist hangout, but sometimes there's a legit reason everyone goes to a place. New Orleans is my favorite city! Just sitting at the Cafe sipping chicory coffee and eating beignets while people watching is my idea of a good time. Cheers, Daos

The foie gras terrine looks really good. -MW

The whole lunch was excellent ...

 By: AndrewD : March 28th, 2011-12:59
... and nicely balanced. The terrine was slightly heavy (what did you expect, Andrew!) but rich and creamy and the coq au vin was unctious, complex and the vegetables/mushrooms were perfectly cooked. It was a very good meal....
