Odd cloud formations...

 By: AlexSunrise : April 1st, 2009-11:49
From reading Daos's great post offering us a view of an LA sunset, I had the idea to share with you these odd cloud formations from a thunderstorm that hit Fort Worth, TX last week. I just had to take pictures of them. Have you ever seen something similar...

Wohow ....

... that looks very very creepy ... weren't you afraid a flying saucer coming out of those weird clouds ???? Filip

For a minute the idea crossed my mind...

And hoped it didn't happen as I didn't have a GMT watch on!!! ;-) Cheers, Alex

Tornado warning?

Cool cloud shots Alex! Is it possible that a storm of some sort is approaching? I remember when in college we made a trip out to a friend's in the Mid-West. The clouds were unusual so we started to take pics and wondered around. Us Californians were the o...

Talk about a close encounter!

I'm glad no consequences came of that innocent exposure to the elements, Ming, as the weather in this part of the US can be very treaturous and change quickly. In this particular day, there was a thunderstorm warning, which brought some heavy rains, light...

Hello Alex!

It's been a beautiful day in Los Angeles today so I will definitely take your advise and look up! Any pics of the lightning you guys got? -MW

Unfortunately, no...

After I took those pics I drove down to my CPA's office, and thus the only lighting I was bound to get a prolonged glimpse at was bound to come straight from the IRS! Enjoy your sunny afternoon! Over here we have partly cloudy skies in the low 80's but wi...

My pleasure! All the best! [nt]

Where are the UFOs?!

Alex! These are the creepiest clouds ever! It's like Independence Day or Armageddon or another one of those end of the world movies come to life! Very cool photos though! I've never seen anything like them...did you end up getting a lot of lightning too? ...

They were super creepy

 By: AlexSunrise : April 2nd, 2009-17:21
But they sort of vanished right after the rain started coming down. There wasn't that much lightning, but we did get some small hail...A real pain when it catches you right in the middle of the freeway with not a shed in sight! Take care, Daos. Alex

Alex, are you a Fort Worth resident?

 By: CaliforniaJed : April 1st, 2009-21:48
Those clouds are amazing and I have never seen anything like them. The last year I lived in Fort Worth (1996) we had a hail storm on Cinco de Mayo that sent down (and though as a Texas son I am prone to exaggeration I swear I am not here) softball size ha...

I am not, Jed

 By: AlexSunrise : April 2nd, 2009-17:24
But I have been travelling to the Metroplex continuosly for the last 10 years or so. Maybe one day I will relocate. Until then, south of the border is where I call home. And I know you are not exaggerating with the hail, as I have encountered some weird w...

Wicked looking clouds

Very creepy and alien-like. Reminds me of the famous 2 words from the movie Poltergeist: "They're here...." Cheers, Anthony

It sure felt like that, AT

as the wind was blowing hard and thus delivering a chilling effect worthy of a M. Night Shyamalan movie. All the best, Alex

Freaky stuff!

My pleasure, Davo!
