100% make this - I never understood why the 1st gen was never loved as much

Why is it the 5270g-001 was never thought of as an important reference, considering it was the first in house perpetual calendar chronograph Patek ever made, a dial very similar to the 2499, apart from the 1/5th hash markings and the simplified sub dial tracks.

It was always the references that followed that got the attention. I wonder why. Maybe something to do with the inclusion of the base 1000 tachymeter scale. My view is I dont think the base 1000 scale should be included on a PCC. Save it for the dedicated chronographs. The complexity of a PCC lends itself to simplicity in the display.

Patek finally looked back to the 2499 and released the 5270p-014 - again a simplified dial much like 001 but this time with the same railroad tracks from the 2499 which I love. I would not be surprised if this marked the beginning and the end of the 5270 and soon we will get something new.

I would love Patek to make a 37-39mm PCC. I'd be all over it.

Make it or trash it?

I think anyone with a love of horology wether they are fans of Patek Philippe or not will agree the reference 2499 was without a doubt one of the most iconic watches ever made. We saw yesterday the launch of some ladies pieces, and the design direction of...

Make it in 37 or 38mm! :-)

And make it in every metal including steel. It will set the new standard for perpetual calendar chronographs. And keep it slimmer than 12mm! Yes I know, I ask for a lot but it is Patek after all.

Make it in platinum with a

Make it … in 39mm (which is slightly smaller than 5970). The image appears to be a combination of the first generation 5270, namely 5270G-001 dial and hands

(which appears below) And 4th series 2499 case. Looks great and a with a different newly designed dial IMHO could be even better. If I had to chose my absolute favorite all time reference it would be 2499. ...

Definitely make it!!!

37-38 is perfect, and to be honest, girth can be forgiven!

Make it!

Yes, 3970 is also much loved. Make it 36 mm and that would be a sort of 3970 🤔😊. And stylistically the 2499 and 3970 look quite similar, at least to my eye. That said,

this a different movement than the 3970s Ch 27-70. Perhaps it requires a bigger case. For me, the opportunity to combine the legendary 2499 case (preferably a bit larger at 39mm) with Patek’s totally in house current movement would be irresistible. But ju...
