... especially about Welsh ...and its a very good reply, i totally agree with all you said.
Let's go to the core idea of the post, which is that modern piece are the choice of customers that tend to search for bling and status symbol, while the vintage is for those have a deeper watch culture.
Here i disagree, as modern or vintage, Patek beauty is not the kind of love at 1st sight that jumps to the eye. Very often i find myself indifferent to a model, and slowly slowly, insidiously, the desire starts to grow, to the point that i really must have that watch.
Contrary to some watches that you immediately fall in love with,... and as quickly fall out of love, my experience with modern patek is that it takes time to love them, but its the kind of love that is solid and keeps growing. I can't recall getting bored of any Patek, while i got bored of most of my other watches ( some exceptions of course )
Bottom line is that you need to have a certain watch culture to capture the beauty of a Patek. Following the same kind of thinking, If you win the lottery and have been wearing a swatch all you life, you will not be attracted to a modern Patek, but most probably something more like a Rolex, Hublot, AP,... depends of your personal taste.
Now let's win the lottery 1st, then we'll see about all that.... and no worries here, japojapo is italian + he has a mamma from beirut, so basically even if we might sound harsh sometimes, we are just enjoying a friendly a chat
P.s: Btw what's the % in your collection of vintage watches?
