Originally designed for El Haj T'hami el Mezouari el Glaoui, the Pasha of Marrakech, Louis Cartier designed a watch that the Pasha could use while swimming. 


Here's the Cartier Pasha with a canteen crown topped by a sapphire cabochon

Besides recessing it under the top lip of the case or placing it on the caseback...the best example of a hidden crown can be found on Dunhill's Bobby Finder Chronograph where moving the bezel exposes the chrono actuators on the sides. Best, MIke ...
