I think you're absolutely right

If I ever get a PAM372, which I REALLY REALLY want to get one day, I know I won't miss the PAM127 at all. Why? Because I feel the PAM372 is a better looking Panerai than the PAM127.
Cheers,
Anthony

I'm missing the original - my ex PAM127 aka "Fiddy"
By: AnthonyTsai : March 20th, 2014-16:50
I really miss this Panerai a lot. Yes even though I do have the PAM203, this PAM127 I still miss dearly. If I remember correctly, the PAM127 is the original and the first Panerai that housed, at that time in moment, the "new" 47mm Luminor 1950 case and al...
I didn't have a chance...

To own this beauty, as I chose the brother, PAM217 instead.. Even though the 217 was a rarer, more intersting with MM dial and being a destro, I find that it lacks the charm the fiddy has.. The more old-school movement finish with "PANERAI" stamp instead ...
That is a lovely shot of a superb piece

Even without that, the 217 has a charm of it's own, that even the newer fidestro 368 doesn't have at all :) Cheers Sam
Now this is interesting...

For me, back then I had my 127 & 203 & 217, when I wanted to reach out for a 47mm Luminor, I would ALWAYS pick the 203 or the 217 hence the 127 hardly get any wrist time. That's essentially how I justified passing mine on to another good home and ...
Fair enough.

I'm still very much in love w/ the tobacco brown dials. Maybe the 372 would fill the void?
217 is more compelling

For me, its the 217 that continues to occupy a special place. Even though the 127 was a "first", I consider the 217 and more special over the long-term.
I never had the chance to own a 127

The "1950" on the dial always disturbed me. Except this detail, the Fiddy is a great looking Panerai. I understand your feeling. But if one day you get a 372, maybe you'll not miss the 127 as much as these days. HAGWE Fabio

Strange that the topic of the Fiddy has come up - I have one on my wish list .... Just trying to get my mind (and my wallet) around the big numbers they are going for these days..... Seeing that the 372 has in some instances been compared to a 127 - is it...
here it is....

but never came across the right one at the right time. Now, many years later I found my grail, the original: ...

Same boat, Nothing beats the Fiddy sold it in 2007 to fund a Patek 5070. Afterwards had some other nice variants including the 372, but finally got another one last year. The perfect Panerai! Regards Rene
