Apologies but AP and PP are not comparable. Both may have issues but I know which brand i prefer - amongst many other issues, I've seen a chrono subdial fall out of the primary dial on a new AP ROO Grand Prix. Salesguy didn't know where to look, poor guy, A total joke purchase I'm afraid. Not a brand I respect I'm afraid.

Ask for advice on changing dial or not

 By: joenghenry : September 16th, 2012-08:09
Dear fellow members, I would like to ask for your advice. I bought a 5396G (the new white silvery dial) new from a local AD last year, and later found a small defect on the dial. There is a small hump in the area between the 10 min mark and the center of ...

It's a difficult one I would want a new dial in..

..perfect condition and I'm sure patek will have them.

Naturally Patek is having a perfect dial!

I don't know what kind of dial your AD is offering you but I'm surprised if they have something available. I think that normally they have to order a new dial from Geneva or a bigger Service Centre. In your position I would simply say to the AD that pleas...

Thanks for the advice

Thank you very much for your advice. It is not the AD who offered me a new dial. I have brought my watch to the PP service center in Hong Kong and they did order not one, but actually two new dials from Geneva for me to choose. Those two new dials have no...

When you are buying a new Patek,

you can demand a perfect watch. If there's a problem also with the glass, let the change it. Best, Kari

sounds terrible!

in my opinion you should take the watch back, politely ask for a refund and go and buy a Royal Oak. There are no humps, lumps or bumps in any of my APs

Lucky you ...

just saw and tried the new AP 15202 RG at an AD and the dial had an unacceptable problem. Seems there was no quality check when it went out or in ... "Shit happens" - but how they solve the problem, that makes THE difference. Oliver

That Patek watches are beautifully made and very sought after. But please don't fall into the trap of beleiving that anything else is crap and that Pateks are perfect as they are not. Patek watches are some of the most fragile watches available, drop a Pa...

You already got ...

good advices from Kari. Wish you good luck and that you will be more than happy with the final outcome. Oliver

perfect or nothing!

I would keep having Patek service the watch until the dial is up to your standards. Patek prides itself on never comprising and providing the absolute best to its customers, and you sure are paying for it! if the dial isn't perfect, then demand a perfect ...

An update

 By: joenghenry : September 17th, 2012-04:42
Dear All, Many thanks for the advice. Just an update on the progress. I told the staff at PP service center (Hong Kong) that I am not satisfied with neither the original dial nor the new replacement dial. They agreed to send it back to Geneva, and let PP ...

Where do we need the Certificates?

 By: dr.kol : September 17th, 2012-17:08
If Patek would change the color of the dial, I don't think that they would issue another Certificate for the watch. However, a little bit over one year ago I applied from Patek the change of both the dial and the hands of a watch to another type. I asked ...

On a relatively new watch like this...

why not tell Patek you will not accept a dial until you are satisfied with the quality of the dial? Seems simple to me. I suppose you will have to live with some tolerance of imperfection, however. Try to see at least three dials... and decide then.
