I feel the same. ☺️

In any case, this concept is completely off the beaten track.

Did Patek ever consider releasing a Nautilus Tourbillon, in the same vein that AP has the Royal Oak Tourbillon and VC the Overseas Tourbillon ?

If not, why do you think that would be ? Would it not make sense to have an "über" version of their flagship sports watch ? Or do you reckon the (rather gorgeous) 5740 perpetual calendar model qualifies as such ? Keen to hear your opinions. Cheers, Pieter...

First of all, Patek Tourbillons are not shown dial side.

 By: patrick_y : May 12th, 2024-10:58
For a while now, Patek Philippe timepieces with Tourbillons don't show their tourbillons on the dial - thus, to make the watch special and more interesting, the design of the dial would have to feature something more than a Tourbillon. So design wise, thi...

Dear Patrick - tourbillions not visible from the dial side is no longer the case.

See 5303R-001. There was some explanation about this being possible because of new crystals allowing for UV protection but I am sure it is a commercial decision. I am sure Patek can build a thin automatic tourbillion even if they don't have one in the cat...

Ahh! You're right! This skeleton model is indeed an exception!

Thank you for pointing this out! You got me! This being a somewhat newer model - it had escaped my mind. Thank you for pointing this out!

The exception that proves the rule

Although I find the tourbillon to still be somewhat hidden on the 5303. The skeletonization really focuses on the minute repeater complication, even bringing the hammers and gongs to the dial side.

You are correct...

 By: mdg : May 13th, 2024-19:15
...but that watch is so esoteric and rare it might as well be a unicorn. I prefer the tourbillon to be hidden on the back.

I don't think they should

 By: A.G : May 12th, 2024-11:02
First thing I don't see the point of the tourbillon on wrist watches, I only appreciate tourbillons on pocket watches ( just my opinion ) also I never liked the holes on the dials to show the tourbillon, the only tourbillon wrist watch l admire and really...

And perhaps this one? 🙃

No “Esmeralda”, but still… Best Thomas ...

😂 😂 😂

Pieter, kid Stern has not copied others on that just yet as they've done other designs. There's time....

 By: enjoythemusic : May 12th, 2024-11:42
Give it time Pieter; the Kid followed the fray with Tiffany blue dial. We must remember commercially popular designs helps for headlines, plus they're very easy to make, and of course quite profitable as this may be best for Patek Philippe 'shareholders'....

Let's keep our fingers crossed ! In the meantime, I'll stick to my plain vanilla 5980 😉.

 By: techniec : May 12th, 2024-16:26
Also, should they ever release a tourbillon version it will likely be an allocation piece, which means that my chances of ever getting one from an AD are probably slim to none 😉. ...

Interesting idea, techniec!

 By: MTR : May 12th, 2024-12:19
I have to say, I'm becoming more and more fond of tourbillons. I think your idea would be a good and unconventional move by Patek. But the watch would have to be suitable for everyday use (robust construction of the Tourbillon and case, appropriate WR etc...

Thank you, Pieter!

I am a fan of the FF Tourbillon. But apparently not enough to buy it.

I love the idea of tourbillon dive watches...

...LF has a beauty. It's so over-the-top it's fantastic : )

I feel the same. ☺️

In any case, this concept is completely off the beaten track.

Do you mean this one?

[pictures from their website] ...

How cool!

Very nice!

 By: MTR : May 13th, 2024-20:30
And perhaps more timeless.

Hoi Pieter

Een leuke vraag. Dat zeker. I read the other comments till Thomas his comment. It is tru PP never put a tourbillon on the dial side. I am not so biased at PP, so i love what VC and AP did. Open holes in dials, ok, i can understand that, while i do not und...

Splendid

Richemont has really great watches, dear Weems@8!

 By: MTR : May 13th, 2024-07:09
In terms of service they could still improve. Just my humble opinion.

Yes, tru

Lucky the watches run good.

If there were to be a Nautilus Tourbillon, why not make it a water-resistant tourbillon minute repeater?

 By: brandon.c : May 12th, 2024-23:51
In my fantasy world, why not add a peripheral winding system to the R TO 27 movement and adapt the fortissimo system from the advanced research 5750P for better sound projection. While the 5750P was not water-resistant, I am imagining that with the enhanc...

Good idea!

 By: MTR : May 13th, 2024-07:07
But somehow I have lost the track and don't know much about the Patek water resistance issue anymore... Apparently they all only have a (guaranteed, real!) 30m water resistance now. But what about my Aquanaut, for example, which I bought one and a half ye...

LOLLLLL

 By: MTR : May 13th, 2024-16:51
But here we are talking about the defense against incoming and not about outgoing fluids.

Ha!

 By: amanico : May 13th, 2024-20:18

My humble opinion:

 By: MTR : May 13th, 2024-19:48
EVERY watch that meets a certain quality standard should have a water resistance of at least 10 ATM. But there are enough watch fans who don't seem to care about that, saying: "I don't go swimming or diving anyway." For me a solid case also means a genera...

I don’t think any Patek minute repeaters are water resistant

 By: brandon.c : May 14th, 2024-00:08
I wasn’t thinking about the recent water resistance changes, but Patek only rates its minute repeaters as being humidity and dust protected (not water-resistant). So having a Patek minute repeater rated for 30m would be pretty notable.
