One of the rarest and most labour intensive PPs out there

Jul 10, 2012,05:47 AM

I was in PP in London and had the chance to handle a very generous collectors 5160G. Let me tell you something - the detailing and engraving of the case, bezel and back is absolutely incredible. This is bloody rare piece and from what I was told, the engraving takes AGES AND AGES making it one of the most labour intensive pieces they make in the collection today.

I don't know how many have left the factory and indeed you can see that this is the first time an owner has come on the forum and shown his so this could be a rather special one for the future too.
I was so mesmerised I considered purchasing one (I love yellow gold) but was then told the price...  oh dear, rather more saving required hahaha!

I'm quite surprised it's missed so many peoples attention - it's a much finer and more special piece than the overhyped 5131.

..., actually i don't get the avalanche of comments about plastic, etc... This is how you got it, and you will open it whenever you feel like it. Nothing wrong with that, except having to deal with frustrated watch lovers that prefer it bareback :) I shar...

 By: watch-fan : July 8th, 2012-05:03

 By: mjnoumoff : July 8th, 2012-07:12

quite often

 By: watch-fan : July 8th, 2012-08:14
I always put 5016P at my hand when I am home. I like to look at it. Sometimes, I wear it to visit AD and have a watch party.

4937R is my 10 year daughter favorite watch. for the monent, mother wears the watch. I think 5160J is good for both man and woman. ...

Exquisite!

 By: Mike Wood : July 9th, 2012-23:52
If you can overlook the price premium for the engraved 5160 over the 5159, the case (and buckle!) decoration on the 5160 is absolutely exquisite! But I feel regularly wearing this piece of "wrist art" will diminish its appeal by dulling the crisp detail o...

I forgot to add - Congratulations to the owner on such an individual and bespoke purchase! Beautiful. I also understand the reluctance to remove from the seal, the case is just insanely detailed and it's going to take some guts to wear this piece - scratc...

That is one of the reaons that I don't remove the plastic. Hard to take care, but enjoy to look at it. I waited from 2010 to get this baby.

Gurantee paper

 By: watch-fan : July 10th, 2012-06:52
My AD told me gurantee paper will come from Patek directly, not from him. Therefore, I don't have the paper yet.

 By: ZJ : July 10th, 2012-18:20
Pardon me, but I am a bit confused. You previously posted pictures of a 5970J. So how is this your first yellow gold Patek? http://patek.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-11/pi-5188678/ti-776678/s--39/

I forget

 By: watch-fan : July 10th, 2012-21:19
I forget I had a 5970J before. I must be too old. Maybe I should call it the first favorite yellow gold Patek watch.

I live in Vancouver now, but my watch is in Taipei. I'll show you when I return to Taipei on Dec, 2012. I have hard time to decide to go G or J, but I am sure I like the J better now.
