same feelings here, and I compare it with the 16520 and 116520 Daytona

The daytona's made between 1988 and 2000 had an El Primero movement inside ( I'm sure everybody here knew this), After 2000 Rolex went for a 100% in-house movement.
Why ?
Probably the same reasons as why Patek went from the CH 27-70 (5070) to the CH 29-535 PS (5170) .
Open a 1998 Daytona and put it next to a 2006 Daytona …. To each his own but I'll take the El Primero based movement in a heartbeat.
It imo just looks much better. And yes, the new movement might be the better one ( more accurate ? more built like a tank ? easier to service, etc)
If Rolex made a movement easier to produce and to service … We know they did it because they could make more movements , so for the manufacture it's a bit like 'cost cutting'
I feel the same when comparing the non in-house Lemania with the in-house 29-535. The last one is a nice movement but I believe the Lemania is the most beautiful and the most special.
And similar to the Daytona story, the new in-house Patek movement might be technically the best. It might be more accurate and it might have some extra patents …. But I prefer the extra work that went into the heavily modified Lemania.
