The steel 5712 is only offered with blue dial. Not white nor black.

Which is a bit odd, right? I mean 5711 and 5980 is offered with three dial alternatives, 5726 with two and even with strap as well as bracelet option. Lots of choice on that shelf. The 5712 is a lone wolf in that pack offering only the blue dial. So in those terms I guess it is only reasonable to consider if it is also leaving the collection.

That said, PP last year told me that the 5712 is the best selling reference of the Nautilus collection. Maybe they pulled my leg, maybe not. But have a look at the secondary market and you'll see that the 5712 has a much higher resale value compared to i.e. the 5980. Which actually could reflect that PP's claim could be true.

I am however rather surprised about these rumors, but at the same time very happy when thinking in scarcity terms as I own both 5980 with blue dial as well as 5960R with grey dial (which incidentally is already discontinued with a discreet three year production run....right?).

But...like any other rumor...let´s hear it from the horse's mouth (even though I trust Bruno would never start a rumor like this unless he could back it up. He would just just call smoke, he would know there was a fire.)

I also said the 5270 will 'change' I don' have moreinfo about the 5270 but it could be it is only the dial. And in that case it might look like the 5270 in the other thread. The so called limited edition. Maybe it is not a LE but the new 5270.

Possibly a new self-winding chrono caliber for 2014?

 By: jon_jon : October 10th, 2013-18:59
I wouldn't be surprised at the 5960 and 5980 being discontinued. Perhaps Patek will be introducing a new self-winding chronograph caliber to replace the CH 28-520 that has been in use in the 5960/5980. As for the 5270G being discontinued, will they come o...

I have my doubts on this as there is no reason to change the current one and all the (minor) issues they had in the beginning are solved. Never change a winning team ... just the style, the case ... :-) Oliver
