When I saw the 5524G first on pictures I had a so so feeling, not bad but not wow also, first of all let me say that I love pilot watches, had an IWC big pilot in the past, a smaller IWC pilot chrono, Zenith type XX and Stratos , Breguet type XXI, .... well you get the picture.
So here PP came with a pilot that wasn't realy that different from all the others mentioned above, my guess is that for most this is the weakest point of it,... it just looks like a pilot watch .... well yes it does, simply because that's how it looks like and that's what historically was specified how they were gonna look. So I see no real shame on that, except that the design is not original.
But does it look bad ?? I'd say no, not at all , certainly if you put it on the wrist and see it in real live it feels completely different, the weight of the white gold case, the easy handling of the GMT, the wonderfull made strap, the 42mm case that makes it very wearable in comparison with 46-55mm cases used in other brands, and not tho forget the nice black blueish dial.
So yes for me to conclude it is a nice PP , maybe not what we expect from them, but hell they had at least the guts to step out of the classic line of Calatrava, Nautilus etc ...
