If the PP seal is used:
1. For all PP watches and
2. Only exclusively for PP watches
than it has no difference from Patek Philippe "brand" or "logo". The seal would just mean that all watches are built to internal factory standards. IMHO, no such need for another seal. It's only use is boiled down to brand/image strengthening.
But if the Seal is:
1. Independent
2. Can certify other watches in the market like the Geneva Seal, COSC, QF does, (which I really doubt is the case)
then it would be a very meaningful development for the whole watch industry for good causes such as technological advancement, complete watch testing, etc.
Can this whole thing be just an excuse to disassociate oneself from the bandwagon of the "not-exclusive-enough" current Seal?
Or maybe PP wants to introduce some new range of non "sealed" value watches?
In any case, any serious and committed effort to enhance watchmaking standards is always welcomed.
One thing for sure, the "stamping" of the PP seal on the watch is definitely better "executed" than the Geneva Seal.
