I view the 5167 being on par with 5711 as original/base models. Then you have all the Nautilus variants as well as Aquanaut variants which come and go. I believe the discontinuation of the 5711 was a huge deal relative to any previous Nautilus variant discontinuations. Similarly, if they discontinued 5167a, then that would have been a similar dramatic drop of the axe…but they didn’t go that far, interestingly. I don’t see PM variants as 5811 as being the same, but could be a consolation to some. For now, 5167a lives on, and so do people’s hopes that have been hoping for one. We’ll see what new model line is released, and the new hopes and dreams that come with it. It’s the Patek horological circle of life.
