HI Thought id post both my oldest & the one I've had the longest First the oldest - a fabulous Futurematic - circa 1953. Took 3 years hunting to get this one. Not sure how long they were made , but not long so prob 1956 latest. Oris Big Crown pointer date...
I have a friend who has one and you rarely see them these days. Certainly one watch that kept up with the future as is as good on the wrist today as when produced. Yours looks in great shape too. Cheers Andrew
Reminds me of an old Rolex but with a touch of reverso in the case too. Love the engraving on the side, a thing we have seen appear in some recent watches. Cheers Andrew
. . . Andreas Huber, Para, Stowa, et al., are rarely found here. Don't know if German manufacturers at that time had American distribution, but I've never come across one in the metal. Intrigued, Art
Guess the Connie has got something special for a lot of vintage collectors. Often I wonder how some of those old Omega\'s are so cheap compared to their Rolex counterparts (if you get my drift).
. . . 'Officially Certified' script was abandoned for a while on Connie dials. Don't recall for sure, but I think it was between '62 and '63, possibly extending to '64. Art
I didn't understand just how the WS threads work here as its confusing having a WS 13th Feb that isn't actually posted until the 19th but I will get the hang of it soon. Anyway my oldest watch is a circa 1974 Omega Baby PloProf 166.0250 and here are some ...
But the most important is your watch. And I must say that this baby Ploprof is quite cool. Less brutal than the Ploprof, but not less charming. Best, Marc. Nicolas
Hi Andrew it took me a long time to find an all original version as opposed to a service dial and bezel or a re made new case version and I bought it head only and then hunted down the period correct Omega mesh and Omega Isofrane and box for it. I really ...
the oldest purchase some forty odd years ago and still running well after servicing my omega deville chronograph and my hermes ermeto--circa early 1900s--now at hermes for upholstering and servicing evaluation best ...
This is the small travel clock right? Very nice indeed and something that is becoming quite rare. The Deville is something that will run forever if looked after, a really great looking chrono. Cheers Andrew
more of a non conventional pocket watch as you can fit it nicely in the palm of your hand and when closed measure some 2.5 cm x5 cmand less than a cm in thickness. best
You know every time I see a beautiful picture of a vintage one, I hunt around as it ticks a lot of my boxes in terms of the dial layout and case size. Then after giving up hope of finding the perfect one, I go back to sleep... then seeing yours makes me h...
I had a summer job delivering blueprints all over Washington D.C. for an architecture firm. I felt like it was time for me to have a real watch, so I bought this Seiko from a fancy jewelry store near my office. Still have it. HAGWE! ...
I bought this new in the early 80's. I think it was Seiko's first analog quartz chronograph. 15 jewel movement, Teflon coated titanium case and bracelet. It was state of the art at the time! It's been a couple decades since I changed the battery, maybe I ...
... I was asking about your very first watch. I imagine you had one in your youth? Do you still have it or remember it? You may see in my post below my very first watch when I was nine years old. That was ... errr... almost 60 years ago!! Ouuuch!! Cheers!...
Great theme, Andrew and equally great Speedmaster with (of course) and orange twist. Here are some from my end: My probably oldest GP in my collection: A post-war Sea Hawk from the late 1940ies: Even a bit older is my WWII Mimo Dienstuhr Heer: And finally...
.....the Omega "Staybrite" CK 958 from April 15, 1935. But the second oldest should be..... ....the Reverso 2201 from 1937 (which I still consider to be mine ;-) ...
Team, The oldest watch in my collection is this Amvox 1. Not "rusty", but with lots of history. First, it was the single survivor of a robbery (I dropped it on the floor and kicked it under a piece of furniture). It's my first Amvox Finally, I was wearing...
I remember looking through some of the old dials at Minerva a few years back, in these day they really did have the most stunning enamel and numerals. Congrats, I love it! Cheers Andrew
... which I feel will bring a lot of nostalgic stories behind the watches being shown. Lovely Speedy you show to begin this thread!! As you know I have a penchant for Speedies!! I´d like to play this week end with these four oldies: First: This little Lig...
... it is the stories behind our watches what give true value to them, Some of these stories come from the original owners, some are written by us while owning and enjoying them. I did not show my Submariner 1680 which I own since 1977 because I have show...
... after so many years! A very humble watch but with lot of memories around it! I´m happy I can have it with me after so many years! Hagwe Nicolas!! Abrazos afectosos, Abel.
Most of my watches have memories, times I bought them, evenings out with watchmakers, deals I made or most importantly, family memories. It is what keeps them special and in our collections and hearts forever. That Longines has caught my eye... very nice ...
When my very first watch a Tissot went out of order. I was in fifth grade, the watchmaker who resized the bracelet told my mom, he is too young for such watch! What do you think was I too young? One thing is sure i took good care of it.
This would be my oldest. It belonged to my grandfather and has an inscription on the back dating it to 1965 although I wonder if it might be older than that. Wheras this was my first watch, a manual-wind Timex from the mid-late 70's. I wore it for years a...
JLC Classic from the 40ies - one of LGM's best design periods Triple Date Teardrop, Cal 464 (1943) GP early Sea Hawk - pure, clean & classic from end 40ies/ begin 50ies Cheers & HAGWE to all. hs. ...

Sometimes, she\'s a little bit shy sorry ;-) In addition, I\'ve been owning my Breitling Navitimer Spatiograph Montbrillant for 20 years (my oldest/longest keeper). Exactly the half of my life next June ;-) ...
As I have said above, I have never owned a Breitling but have looked at vintage navitimers quite a bit in the past. But yours is different... tell me, is that a countdown timer where the 10 is or what? Cheers Andrew
I got it when I was fifth grader, oh well... We have to start somewhere Thing that I liked about it is its lume . But my oldest one in term of its age is this one..... The classic GG Connie Best, Jev ...
The longest in my possession. It's from around 1943-44. My Father bought it for himself after returning from action in WWII. This Bovet mono-rattrapante is from around the same time. I've only had this watch for about 3-4 years, however. In terms of "olde...
you are having too many of us drooling over our keyboards... beautiful piece indeed! And that Longines... since when did they have this case shape and with diamonds?? This is new to me... Cheers Andrew
but after a separate post in HoMe. Sorry! As for the Longines...I have actually seen another in the metal a decade and a half ago here in New Jersey. And about two years ago one came up on Ebay. So it appears not to be an outlier.
Very beautiful indeed and looks super mint... when did you get it and why this over a wrist watch? Did you already know the current Lange when you purchased this one? Cheers Andrew
.. well, this one has been my favorite "antique" piece. Sure, I do have "vintage" wrist watches, but none of them tops this in terms of its "timeless-ness"..... I bought this AFTER I bought my first (or second or third or..) Lange while I wanted to know m...
Rolex on right acquired in 1971 Favre Leuba next to it. Acquired in 1969 HMT next to it was military watch at time of Indo China war IWC next to it has movement from the late 1940s or early 1950s Not sure of exact vintage of below two, (Hamilton & Ros...
My oldest watches are this Hamilton pocket watch and Roamer wristwatch. I don't know how old the pocket watch is...... The Roamer Super Shock manual-wind Gents wristwatch is only 30mm in diameter and belonged to my father-in-law. It started life as a watc...
Well it still looks in perfect condition! The hamilton pocket watch just is pure class... its a shame we don't see more pocket watches today. Cheers Andrew
My grandfather's watch I inherited a few years ago...he bought it at the end of WWII. As it was purchased in the England, it has English Hallmarks and dates to 1944-45 when it was hallmarked in Chester. It is showing it's age, with a heavily patinated sil...
Did he work for British Gas too? What is the GAS for.. his initials or something else? Those blue hands are to die for. I guess there was a story about those dings too as they seem pretty brutal? Cheers Andrew
GAS I suspect is the case maker, as the hallmarks are standard and not import hallmarks. Yes, the dents I hope/imagine are from skiing falls etc. he was the top skier in the British Army back then, rather than the more realistic reality of staggering home...
. . . ca '43, and separated by just a few score digits between the movement and case numbers. Unfortunately, the Brazilian edition isn't on a strap at the moment, and the other is at my watchmaker's, so I can't take a current photo. Here's a previous shot...
. . . especially for you. Yes, it is a bit hard to read with the dilapidated dial, and the second hand has been refinished - kinda like an old soul with a new ticker. ...
. . . but often rhymes"? Well, I was standing in line at the bank Tuesday, same one where I saw a deep vintage GMT a few years ago on the wrist of a customer next to me, and sure enough, it happened again with a different person. This time around it was a...
