Live from Basel - Why the Patek 5524G the #1 this year
Mar 22, 2015,11:03 AM
Apologizes in advance for the mediocrity of my photos - unfortunately the lighting in the patek booth in Basel
was not ideal but I still wanted to give you a glimpse of the 5224G.
much has been said about this strange new watch from patek - are the catalogue photos really accurate?I think that the 5224G is possibly the #1 of the Patek offering this year in Basel. Granted, I am not a huge
fan of complications so my universe of interest is more limited. But I have to say that for someone that loves
pilot watches the 5524G is very much patek and very much unique. It is a perfect under the radar patek
that can indeed by confused by many more spartan brands and manufacturers. But make no mistake - this isn't
your average Zenit.
The case proportions are excellent and cannot be compared to the huge monster pilot watches offered by other brands.
I go as far as saying that this is the #1 this year as it was surprising, exciting and daring at the same time. Another perpetual calendar? Minute repeater? Yawn. This watch offers a very intelligent complication and it is priced, in gold, at the same level of
the steel nautilus dual time.
For someone looking for a Patek that is more young and modern the 5224G is a winner.
The patek post box is very classy and interesting.
The patek booth is very classy and elegant. Absolutely stunning.
With several things to see in Basel the Patek booth and 5224G was a true highlight to me. The elegance of Patek was very much present and visible throughout the fair. This new model shows that Patek is not just capable to
produce grand-father styled watches but to dare with new, younger more intriguing models like this stunning pilot watch.
Well done Patek !
