Swimming pants?

Nov 14, 2016,12:12 PM

The chap who inquired about the watch seems to like the Ellipse, most likely he has seen it in the flesh and tried it on. I did not read anything about swimming.
Unless you live on a tropical island, which most people in the world dont, wearing a suit-compatible watch is not as specialized as wearing a massive chunk of metal on your wrist which looks out of place with a suit or even black tie. Yes, the outdoorization of culture has led to people wearing massive diving watches, waxed jackets or huge padded coats, drive oversized jeeps and the like. Still.

I am new to PP world. I just saw a white gold golden ellipse and would like to purchase the same. Did a web search and saw prices which are thousands of $$ apart seemingly for the same exact watch (example, a HK seller with a price 10K less. I want to buy...

...he likes the Ellipse so why bring up the much more expensive and also totally different Nautili??? Yes, I know it is mainstream to like them, but he wants something else, why talk him into it? In particular, why "start" with stainless steel, which is q...

If an opinion is asked, I tell what I think. I'm not a Guru whose opinion should be followed but I am trying to help a first timer. Golden Ellipse is an iconic Patek but for many of us it is a specialised watch looking better with suit than with swimming ...

I just tried to help. Best, Kari

Gentleman, in my opinion Ellipse is a watch.....

 By: watercolors : November 15th, 2016-02:10
that is not easily distinguished. It is not a matter of a "Suit watch" or "Swimming trunks" watch. It is a watch of some aesthetical value designed for a true Aristocrat , a person whom you can see at an important function wearing a silk neckerchief from ...

It is just me but

I have had the Ellipse for quite a long time and for me it is mostly a black tie watch. Best Kari

For me it is much more, it is a lifestyle.....

I am most grateful for your reply. I didn\'t realize that some of my questions were verboten. So sorry, being a first timer, I wasn\'t conversant with the site\'s protocol. I saw a brown white gold ellipse w/brown strap and was smitten. The watch was very...

Okay, appreciated.

I hope you'll find what you're looking for here. About your enquiries, we in fact prefer to focus friendly talk on the watches themselves, the economy of the sector etc but try to avoid talking about rebates, prices, good or bad sellers etc... These come ...

Hi Mark: Thank you for your most comprehensive note...very impressive. I can see now that this forum is for "real" (transient) connoisseurs, where the conversation is mostly about pros and cons (if any) of different watches. Fair enough, that is the right...

My father owns 3 Golden Ellipses. They are rather unique and not seen too often in the wild. That is what makes them fun to wear. The watch is a timeless classic. I would recommend trying one on for fit and feel. When you are buying pre-owned make sure to...
