Fricks,
I think the nicest part of your post was actually how you talked about deleting negative experiences and memories from your past... This is exactly right my friend. We all need to do it, in many aspects of our lives.
And it was THIS that was the motivation behind sending my piece back for service. It would come back looking new, with a new alligator strap - a fresh start and with negativity removed forever... That's what I wanted. And although a service absolutely was not needed (Mechanically the watch appeared to be performing perfectly) I thought I would do it anyway on the basis that the watch would be away for a 12 weeks or so. The rest you know....
I will say that I have an exceptional relationship with my AD who has done some nice things for me in the past. We're actually friends. He was even more disappointed than I was when he relayed back to me the likely wait time. No, my AD has no role to play. I am tempted to write a letter to Geneva but I feel this would be going over the head of my AD and ultimately I am not experiencing anything which others have not had to endure....
I remain a huge enthusiast, and this will NOT sour my love for fine timepieces and of course Patek. It won't.
But, I am an emotional guy, and a PP is, first and foremost, an emotional purchase. In fact the brand itself trades on the emotions related to ownership....So when an owner, driven by an emotional experience, requires a perfectly **reasonable** time frame for something, you can see how things can become a little "heated" if that doesn't happen.
I sincerely wish everyone a happy holiday season and a wonderful 2015.
I've taken to wearing an old 1987 gold Rolex Sub I have. Totally inappropriate in the grey UK cold but it's a little warmth on my wrist!
Regards
